Default Ignition retard

Guys, my car shows ATDC 10-25 degrees during normal driving conditions.
can someone tell me if this igniton retard is way off the limit or its standard ? I tried searching the internet but could not get any reference of what should be ideal ignition timing.. Also I noticed that the scanner did not report any ignition advance also.
My car is Obd2,Vtec D16Y8 Honda civic.

Method of operating an internal combustion engine - US Patent 5655365
Please take a look at the above link. The article says 20 degrees is idel and can be varied between 15-30 ATDC.
