Sub 8kmpl would be bad news for any car in this class. Even i've never seen anything below 10kmpl (but that could be due to the Vtec system). Not sure about 1.5s though.

Hmm 8kmpl without any performance mods isnt normal, you gotta do a thorough chekup bro...Go 2 the service station and ask them to check your O2 sensor, ecu error codes if any. Get the injectors cleaned once again, this time in your presence. Chk your tyre pressure, cylinder compression pressure, clutch wear n make sure they are all normal. Next biggest thing would be filling gas from reputed pump and re calculating your FE.

im doing a second check on mileage from same pump just to rule out any calculation or " auto stop " errors

after that im planning to have service done and then check mileage..

btw - what are the good alternatives to stock silencer...any good places to go to in chennai for the same..

what would be cost of plain exhaust system in the after market and what about a free flow ( good quality ) ?

assuming a normal car gives 10kmpl what would a car with free flow give ?

ok guys. i did the mileage check once again at the same pump with the same auto stop function and go around the same mileage of around 7.5kmpl

this i think effectively rules out errors due to auto stop...

also , i think this pump is a reputed one hence im ruling out fuel adulteration

in the meantime, my exhaust leakage problem is increased and i get a deeper "bass effect " sound from the silencer..similar to a free flow kit !!!1

so decided to give car for the 60k service right away -( around 1.5 k in advance )..

friends - can u help me with below points

1) what are the main tests that are covered in the 60k service
2) given the purpose of this thread - shud i ask for any other work to get done
3) if exhaust leakage is bad enuf to warrant replacement - does the full unit need to be replaced or only the affected sections ?

ok guys - found the culprit for the low mileage

i got the car back from service and rechecked mileage. apparently there was no problem with the engine parameters etc...

the problem was the petrol pump....fuel here is HUGELY ADULTERATED that in this period i came to know from 2 other regular users of this pump that they had similar mileage drop issue. one of my close friend who uses this pump , had it worse - his CBZ ENGINE ceased !! and HERO HONDA SERVICE gave it in WRITING THAT ceasure was due to bad fuel !

so all chennai members PLS AVOID IOC KAMADHENU PETROL PUMP AT TTK ROAD - ELDAMS ROAD JUNCTION....

45 Liter - No reserve. When needle reaches at the top of 'E' on fuel meter the tank holds close to 5 liter [in my car].

And when it drops below the red bar your car has less than 2 litres which means you're about to run dry any moment

P.S. It has happened to me & at that time it's not funny!!

Yeah above the bar is very safe, you have about 5-odd litres & that should get you to the next pump. Below the bar you're just asking for it!

Could Bad fuel also eventually lead to Fuel Pump failure? Why I am asking this is in reference to my thread on repeated EM fuse blowout on my 2004 Ikon 1.6 (http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/techni...wout.html) for (2004 Ford Ikon 1.6 nxt repeated ECM Fuse blowout) which the usual solution is to replace the fuel pump. I am surprised as to why its happenning so many times. But reading this thread I have a hunch that the petrol pump I trust so much could be selling me adulterated stuff.

OT:
@1100D - if you are talking about the one @ AJC Bose Rd (near Flyover) -> could be! we dont fill our cars there anymore. we fill up @ a pump @ gurusaday road beside Birla Museum.
