| Hello People, This is Srinidhi from Bangalore. Recently I got an information from one of my friend regarding the new training program by the TKM company in Bangalore. They are starting a new training program for rural students and SSLC pass out students, where in they will take students and train them in any of the following trades:
This is a very good platform offered by the Toyota Technical Training Institute for the rural students to become a World Class Technician in the area of Automobile manufacturing or plant maintenance and Toyota being one of the biggest car manufacturers in India, there cannot be a better chance for these students to expose themself to the latest technology in the field of automobiles. Please inform about this training program if you know any bright rural students and help them move forward in their lives. Following is the admission process and eligibility criteria for the program: Admission Procedure: The admission is through an objective type entrance examination (10th Std state syllabus +Aptitude) to be conducted during 1st week of June 2007. Eligibility Criteria: Qualification : SSLC (Karanataka Board) with minimum 50% in Science and Maths and over all 50% (Those who are awaiting the result may also apply) Age limit : 15 to 18 Years as on 15th July 2007 Note : Urban school students and those who have already failed in SSLC/PUC or holding a formal ITI / Diploma / Degree are not eligible to apply. | Team-BHP Support ![]() | Fantastic and very smart initiative by Toyota. Not only are they offering free training to those who need it (and giving them qualifications for career starts), but they are training people for their own requirements. Who wouldnt want to hire someone trained by Toyota in the areas of automotive assembly etc.? This is an opportunity to learn the worlds best practices from the worlds most efficient car maker. Most kids wanting a career in the automotive industry would rather take up this option than the diploma in auto engineering.

| Toyota is not just selling cars in India but going the extra mile by training local unemployed youth and equipping them with knowledge of Toyota's best manufacturing practices. Once trained these young people can look at possible career oppurtunities within Toyota. But the training isn't all about assembling cars or working in assembly lines, Toyota's training goes further to include mind and body improvement. Source: Toyota's training our youth. Latest issue of OD also has information about how Toyota conducts traffic lessons in Bangalore's schools. This also is conducted on a continuous basis and the course includes safety lessons for both drivers and pedestrians. Kudos Toyota! The only way to improve the chaotic traffic situation in our country is to instill discipline and knowledge in our youth. Toyota is doing what our governemnt should have been doing. I have a new found respect for Toyota.

| Senior - BHPian | Well ! Thats a nice one to know and Toyota i think is setting a standard and raising the bar of excellence. To me after some of the Innova call backs, this is another sign of being responsible and contributing to the community as a whole with a lot of hopes into the youth in particular. Keep up the good work!

| Senior - BHPian | They do these community services as a part of their service to the community. In Bidadi where the TKM plant is set up, they have already taken up a school and they are sponsoring the education of the school. They have constructed and donated a new school building (Govt school) to the poor and needy people. This was around 3~4 years back. Even the Infosys foundation is upto the social jobs like this. Our Govt should be ashamed of these corporates as they are not able to implement the same.

| Senior - BHPian | snaronikar, all corporates have a responsibility towards helping the weaker sections of society in the places they are present, and most of them involve in the same. Its just that some get highlighted while others dont. For a fact, does anyone know that Infy mandatorily deducts Rs.100/- from each employee's monthly salary towards their Welfare fund, and then when they take up some project of this sort, its only Sudha Murthy's name which gets the limelight. Back to the topic, i have always had enormous respect for Toyota and such practices from them only go towards strengthening that.

| Senior - BHPian | This is a news to me. I did not know this. But why do they cut in the salaries of the employees. Atleast in Toyota we never heard/saw salary cuts due to this.

They dont care about the commoners as we all know and once in 5 years alone when they are in need of the votes they surface back.. Again, its nice to see that Toyota is certainly doing a good job on the Automotive manufacturers as compared to others as i dont recall any such venture by other automotive majors.

| It is CSR cum PR cum philantrophy cum vested interest. Many birds killed in one stone. The vested interest part is because these companies get huge tracts of land at heavily subsidised rates. The land is acquired forcibly by the state from farmers for this purpose. Whatever these companies spend on CSR activities is a pittance in comparison to the price of the land which they get.

Infact they are going one step ahead and employing those people. I wouldn't be surprised if every auto company in India would be doing this on some scale. Some choose not to advertise it.
