Angry Baleno : Post 15k Service Issues

hey folks

About 2 weeks back my Baleno was serviced at 15k. Post service I did a long drive to TN's coast, all through this drive the car has performed exceptionally well.
Noticed 2 problems this weekend when I was driving to Madikeri.

1 - Steering wheel vibrates occasionally at speeds of 120 kmph.
2 - While accelerating the speed climbs steadily to about 120kmph and from there on looks like the car is having a tedious climb to higher speeds.
As in the car wouldnt budge easily to achieve a higher speed.

Previously I have never faced this problem and also to get to 140 was an easy task.(Please note, this isnt the speed I generally drive at.)
Somehow the car feels under-powered and also acceleration feels a little delayed(I think so) .

Have already spoken to MUL and will be heading back there for a complete checkup of the same.

Problem is that my service advisor has been hospitalized and he always did a wonderful job with my car. This time around had to leave my car in some-one else's care.

As for the vibration of the steering wheel, I guess the wheels need to be rotated and checked. Had got the alignment done earlier.

Maybe I sound a little paranoid and worked up ,adjust maadi .
Any suggestions from the guru's as to what needs to be checked at MUL?

Thanks in advance guys

get the wheels balanced.

get air filter and plugs checked and also check if all the wires for ignition are in proper order. then move on to throttle body (which should be fine since your car has done only 15 k kms)

Rahul , will sure have you check my car personally once its fixed .

Jaggu thanks for the suggestion. BTW I have a K&N conical filter installed and its been about 6k since I installed the same. Does that need to be cleaned?

I would say that the air filter is clogged. Quite a lot of dust in TN. Have that cleaned. This should make your car breathe a lot better & solve this lag in acceleration problem by 75% at least.

The steering vibration should be an allignment issue....!

For acceleration lag u can replace your exisiting filter with the stock ones n check if there's any difference

There could be two things that may be causing your car to hesitate in accelerating and generally gives you a feeling of being breatheless.
1> Check whether your air-filter has a lot of accumulated dust and grime on it. This can cause symptoms like yours. Generally the engine feels breatheless and sort of underpowered.
2> Did the guys at the workshop tamper with the plugs? As in, did they adjust the plug gaps? Check that out.

Otherwise also find out whether natural wear-and-tear has increased the plug gap. Did you experience a few stray cases of engine misfire of-late?

Thanks all. Looks like the 1st culprit that I need to look at is the filter. Dust from TN .
Sure will have the plugs also checked as Jaggu and Zappo has mentioned.

Wheel alignment and balancing can be a issue often. See that you allign, balance and rotate your tyres every 5000kms. I do it religiously every cycle and my tyres are performing well, no uneven wear, no vibration etc.

lot of fine dust goes past the free flow filters. at 4k of running with ractive I found dust cake inside throttle body recess. so you can check both of them. why not replace the plugs every 10k of running.it will cost you 600rs. check your tyre pressures also.

MUL does change the plugs when it is needed.
Checking tyre pressures and keeping it at optimum levels is a must do job when planning a long journey.

It's all in the mind factor should also be attended to.
