Default Speedo and Odo stopped all of a sudden

Hi guys,

Today as usual I started my car for office. I have a 2000 Zen.
After driving abt 5 to 6 kms I noticed my speedo does not work even though the car was going at 50-60 km/hr. Also the odometer has stopped and it does not go forward.

Any idea what might be the reason.
Waiting for replies before taking the car to the workshop.

Thanks and regards,

Kamat

There is a cable which connects to the odometer, which is likely to have snapped. A replacement should do the trick.

Thanks Guys,
I went to the maruti workshop yesterday. They checked fot the cable and put a new one also ...but it did not solve the problem.

According to them ...it has to do something with the gear box. They said some plastic part which connects to speedo/odometer might be the problem. They have asked me to come by Friday. Guys what do you think might be the problem.'

Thanks

Kamat

Kamat,

If they are referring the worm which turns the speedo cable then they are right, in my opinion there should not be anything wrong with the gear box
