hi gto, yeah i too love the vtec a lot. thats why i convinced my parents into buying one.

i just got out of college and am searching for a job now. once i start earning money, i'm gonna have stanley seat covers, subwoofer and amplifiers and skirts as well.

my car now has 5 spoke 15" alloys with 205/50 r15 kumho ecsta rubber.

i knew about the ecu problem of 2001 and 2002 vtecs. thats why i was searching for a 2003 model. i love the color too, it's satin silver.

@GTO - i'm glad to hear what you said, "There is no other car under 10 lacs (even today) that offers you the same driving experience."

Can it be tuned so that it crosses 100 kmph in 2nd gear. in the honda user book, it is written that vtec can go upto 96 kmph in 2nd gear.

nice pics iraghava. i liked your color. did u paint it at honda service itself or other paint shop ?

yeah the build quality is flimsy. i noticed that too. poor quality plastics used. and also my gear stick has lot of play in forward pointing gears (1st, 3rd and 5th).

Its more to do with the gearing + rpm revv limiter. The revv limiter can be removed. Check out the recent article on tuning in the Team-BHP Advice section.

yeah narayan. i once read in overdrive magazine that the 1.5 is a better car to drive due to its gearing but the vtec is a better performance car.

Guys I'm new around but these are the stats I get from my ride...

1.Max speed you have achieved - 140kmph on speedo, haven't dared to go over that. As some of you have mentioned, it almost feels like gliding and that gives u a bit of a scare. In addition to that my car is a stock VTEC...

2.Fuel efficiency - city (10-14), highway (16-18). I'm not precisely sure about these figures, but these are what i get when i do put some attention

3.Problem prone areas of the car - O2 Sensor conked out, but my car has done over 50K and yeah suspension great but not for this country. Can think of anything more.

never checked FE, but general values checked sometime back...

Very good OEM quality, as even the parts exposed to weathering for 6 years like the electric ORVM's motors are working perfectly.

For me, this is a car with more VFM than any other new one I would have bought otherwise.

I am planning to procure an OHC VTEC soon. I remember Shantanu stating that high-octane fuel would reduce the jerks. Either ways, there is a ton of members driving Pre-2002 Vtecs and its not a severe problem. Can get annoying but I am sure you will find a way around it. Or get used to it.

Seems like it should help. OT- What compression ratio does the stock OHC VTEC run?

185kmph -speedo read

2.Fuel efficiency - city, highway, overall.
11.5 100% AC - 13.8kmpl(light footed) without AC- City Avg is 12.5kmpl
Highway 20.5kmpl Avg speed of 90 -100kmph 16kmpl Avg speed of 120 - 140kmph
Worst - 10kmpl Heavy traffic - crawling speed
Best - 20.5kmpl
3.Problem prone areas of the car.
Silencer - Exhaust often gets rusted

well guys just got my vtec last week havent ripped it as yet but did get to a 140kmph untill now also did notice jerks on low rpm and with a/c even the car does show some power loss but without a/c its gr8
also how long a road is needed to get to a 180 or 185 as u guys claimed

Well I haven't observed the distance required to reach 185kmph,
Probably it's something around 1+ km is required.
