The last 2 letters of the VIN in 2009 model were either QZ or PZ so please have a look at this and post your VIN for reference.

Next time I visit to see the vehicle, I'll surely note down the Chassis and Engine number. Thanks.

Dear Wildon,

Thanks for your help and SMS. yes its an emotion Pack and actually I did not know there was a model called Emotion (my oversight) although i saw specs for Active / Dynamic / Dynamic Pack but somehow due to the ABS, airbags, alloys i just went for the Top end as the Dynamic Pack which was my first choice has been discontinued by FIAT.

thanks again!!!

Awesome thread Wildon. With the amount of research you have done, you must be having a map in your mind of what each digit in each manufacturer's vin indicates .

I am planning to buy a Maruti SX4 and from what I understand based on the posts so far:

1. The last 2 letters after the chassis number (under the hood) refer to the month and year of manufacture (should be AA in case of Jan 2010 manufactured car)
2. Other way to check is by looking at the Form 22 which should be with the dealer.
3. Currently, there is no way of finding out the exact manufacturing date (not just month and year) for maruti cars like you are able to do for the Hyundai cars?

Request you to please validate my assumptions.

Thanks for your help.

1. It should be AA but no Maruti owners confirmed me yet or an A10
2. Yes.
3. As of now - No

Yes Wildon is right here. For Maruti vehicles the 18th and 19th characters should read AA for a Jan 2010 model. The first A stands for January and the second A for 2010.
