refer the following page

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/techni...n-cars-59.html (Finding the VIN & manufacturing date/year on Indian cars)

Also in 2010 they used N for representing November and P for December.

It would be interesting to know how your R C book says about the Manufacturing month and Year. Please let us know if you already got the RC.
Wildon: Finally got my registration card. It mentions Mgf date as 7/10

As expected. So its been now clear that RTO will only check the Month and Year code from VIN while registering ,not from other forms/papers.

Does this mean that the coding being reffered to by the RTO needs to be be updated?

As per my knowledge its the manufacturer who gives the decoding tech know-how of VIN/Chassis no. to the ARAI for approvals then its goes RTO for using in registration purpose.

Hi wildon,

my neighbour is taking delivery of Swift DDIS.
Here is the VIN the dealer has shared 9the car is supposedly in transit):
MA3FKEB1S00662997*BB

Can you please confirm the manufacturing date and varient details?

Thanks!

EDIT: OK, I found the previous post, the last two letters after asterisk are BB (which means Feb 2011), I think, correct?
