rudra da - there is water everywhere - IMO i water level will receed.

@ shuvc - why dont you ask the caretaker/security guard to hire a "tulu pump" to pump out the water from the basement. AFAIK - you dont park your car in the basement - do you?

@rudra da, planet: no point in pumping out the water, since it'll come right back in (his garage is surrounded by water).

@shuvc: so things got worse. i have a feeling you need to get that insurance chap over to your place. before Maruti takes over (unless Maruti takes care of the insurance too). hang in there man. will call you sometime soon.

To add to your to-do list:
- Check power steering fluid & coolant
- Lubricate (grease) all mechanical parts, including the seat channels (these tend to creak after a dunking).

Regarding some of the electricals, is it advisable to remove the fuses of the non-essential electrical lines? Hope this isn't too stupid a question!!

This is a good idea. Things may change after sending the car to service center. Let them see it now to have a correct picture.

Garage is in ground floor. Slightly above road level. So no way to pump out water. In fact there's no way to pump out water from the whole Bangur area, since the nearby canals have overflowed.

Car is covered under Maruti insurance. So I'll ask the service engineer to arrange for their resident insurance guy to come down with the mechanic. Right now there's no way they can come. Whole area is under waist deep water. I have also taken a few snaps. Car is registered in my company's name. Any issues there ? Do I need to contact the company first ?

Trying to upload snaps. Connectivity is almost zilch. Took me 1 hr to post this.

I think you will be able to get away will minimal damage. I don't think they would be any mechanical damage caused, however you would need to get the wiring and electrics checked out properly. carpeting etc. would need to be changed.

Fingers crossed for you.

Keep them in the loop in case of any insurance claims.

My car got screwed yesterday too, drove in nearly waist deep water (no exaggeration) at areas like Tewari (near Minto Park) and Park Circus, the base of my car is flooded, had no option but to park at Homeland Basement, (infront of INDO RADIAL) as there was just too much water everywhere.Waited in homeland till the rain stopped and meanwhile pumped out the water manually using my Tiffin box and a borrowed water bottle, spent the night at a friends place nearby, bought the car home today.Damages---dont know as yet - water must have entered the A.C vent while driving through flodded streets , ice - praying for it there was no light in my house the whole night as there was a huge shortcircuit in my building with plenty of blams blams yesterday night, similar case like shuvc with water reaching the mains. the light just came an hour ago, planning to get the second service done and also for a complete wiring check up this weekend, till then have to take a cab/shuttle to office :-(

Grim news everywhere, looks like most of us got affected in some way or the other. I was so exhausted after the drive yesterday, didn't have the energy to check the car properly last night. However, the water didn't flood my car mercifully. Don't know whether any water has seeped inside though, didn't have the nerve to wade through the filthy water and go to the garage in the morning. Will check it tonight. Have booked Dewar's service station for tomorrow morning!!

Shuvc, feeling really sorry for the silver arrow... praying for it to come out unscathed from this madness! I too agree with Razor, please get the insurance guy (Maruti or otherwise) to check your car before you move it. Any snaps you've taken should also serve as proof. That guy you recommended at the Mohan's service station seemed quite knowledgeable and helpful... he should be able to help.

Hang in there. With the sun out, water levels should recede considerably by tonight or latest tomorrow morning. How're you feeling now, fever better?

if there is no way of moving the car out and/or reducing water level, close the air intake (engine end) and wait till water recedes.

then take to MASS and do a complete overhaul job.

Sorry to hear the news Shuv

HOLY SMOKES!

She'll need to be completely stripped and rebuilt. Since U've taken precautionary measures, there won't be any major damage.

PS: I can foresee a Skoda owner in coma after seeing the repair bills.

Holy crap. Those poor cars. Shuvc, my heart goes out to you and your Silver Arrow. This is terrible. Hope the water recedes asap and you can get things sorted out.
Jeez. Why do we bother paying taxes....
