Default Baleno belt problem!!

The ac and power steering belt of my baleno has worn out...i can see cracks on it...and now its making some unusual noises

so it needs urgent replacement...also decided to change the alterantor belt with it...

viteese quoted :
ac and power steering belt : 2000
alternator belt : 200
labour : 500
+ taxes

total : 3000 approx

took the car to my local mechanic he said original belts are available outside as well..

both belts : approx 400 rs
labour : 150 rs

also inquired with 2 spare parts shops they say good quality (branded) belts are available in the market for all cars...

i have never given my baleno to the local garage beside alignment so wat should i do ....

get it frm maruti at viteese or get it done locally ??

the margin between both the places is just 2 much...

how long lasting is the belt in the baleno...my car has just clocked 40 k kms

if your local garage is reliable, buy MGP parts and replace it there, belts can last anything from 40 to 60 k kms, its normal to change belts at 40 k kms

Belt life is also age dependent, apart from weather conditions and how often it got wet etc....
It would be a simple matter to have a good branded belt put by a local shop. But please be present when having it done. (To confirm use of correct tools and to verify that no nuts/bolts are left loose).
