Used engine oil has acids, dirt, grime, etc of all sorts.
So,it is harmful in the long run (carcinogen).

Default Re: Santro Timing belt

My Santro is nearing 75k km mark and need to change the timing belt. I have been told that Gates is the Hyundai vendor for timing belts. Gates timing belt is available in the market for ~rs.400.

Can you please tell me if Gates is actually the Hyundai vendor for timing belts. Otherwise, how are Gates timing belts, are they as good as OE one's.

I want to try and get the belt replaced outside of HASS. The dealers in Patiala area (where the car is) are pretty incompetent.

Default Re: Timing belt queries

Can anyone tell me how many belts and how many pumps are there in a car?
I have seen these items in my old car(800)-
1. Timing belt(on the right hand side, visible from the top/below)

2. Alternator belt(on the left hand side)-Responsible for charging the battery and also involved in the operation of the power steering.

3. Water pump belt/pulley-Responsible for the operation of the water pump.

4. Fan belt-responsible for the operation of the radiator fan.

Are there any other belts? Where is the cam belt? I have never seen it.
