Default Minute crack in windscreen on my Swift

During my recent trip to Rajasthan a small pebble/stone from the rear tyres of the truck i was overtaking, hit my windscreen and created a small crack . Please suggest what should i do? It doesn't make sense to change the windscreen. What are the other options. I am worried that the crack would spread and may pose a threat to me and other people sitting in the front seat.

it may not be worth it to repair the crack now. As time goes by the crack (due to vibrations) will become bigger. you can stick some tape at the edge of the crack to slow down this process. when teh crack becomes a hinderance then get it fixed.

A lot will depend on whether the crack propagates. If not then covering with a sticker after filling with some epoxy (transparent filler is even better) is all you need. If it spreads then see where does it all end. I do recall reading somewhere that making the tips of the crack round (a specialized job) without going through the lamination, stops it from spreading.

It all depends on the crack. Make a visit to windshield experts. Find out if it can be fixed. If not get one of their stickers. They'll put it on top of the crack. Drive around for a few days and if you notice the crack widening then change the windshield.

Anyways you have to replace it at some point. :-)

I would say get it changed ASAP just for safety reasons.

Why take a chance with a crack? its like a ticking time bomb, always nagging in the back of your mind.

It could be pretty dangerous during high speeds.

Same type of Crack in my Maruti 800. It can not be fixed as per my nearest windshield expert. I have already got a quotation and changing it this week. Luckily it will cost only 1500 for Martui 800 and labour Rs.50 only.
