Default Foul Smell from Blower / Fan in swift

During moments when I switch of the AC and keep the blower running, my swift produces a peculiar unpleasant smell. The smell vanishes the moment I switch off the blower. This is only while the AC is on off mode. Does anyone have a clue as to why would this happen!
Please note this is not a momentary phenomena, the car has been doing this for about an year!

Looks like your car is suffering from bad breath. Check for cavities.

Seriously speaking, get the a/c coil cleaned. Surely the coil has a lot of dust accumulation and that is the cause for the bad smell. Get the whole a/c system serviced for better results.

For now, get her some mouthwash (car perfume).

There is a foul smell coming from my brand new SX4 from day one. This happens as soon as I switch on the blower and the smell disappears when I switch on the A/c. Here we go again with the SX4 issues!

4 years through and there are no such problems from my Palio.

Did you have it checked? Maybe some foreign body is lodged in the coil.

Could be possible you have fungus on the filter or something that used to be alive.

I guess this would be due to the stale air inside your car (happens all the time to me too). Try sliding the air control to fresh air intake.

accent does come with an airfilter paper type that needs replacement every 20K Kms and the cost is a whole 1000 bucks!
EDIT: forgot to mention its the a/c's air filter! the car's normal air filter is paper type too and is like 300 bucks!

Guys, i think this is a normal phenomenon in all cars : not-so-good smell when only blower is on, and good smell when AC is also switched on. I have noticed it in our Alto also. I think this is because of the fact that the air in the car is stale and it gets re-circulated. Running the blower in the "fresh-air" mode will resolve this to some extent, but then you will get any bad odour that may be present outside the car .

The same smell is also present for the initial few seconds when one switches on any room air-conditioning system also.

Default Lizol

You might try pouring about a shot glass of Lizol or some other disinfectant right down the vent holes particularly by the windshield. You probably have a small forest of mold and/or fungus growing down there. Or.......Are any of your small family pets missing? Are any of the local snake charmers looking for their missing partners?

I think this phenomenon is common across many cars going by the responses to this thread. Even I do have the same issue in my less than a year Getz. The air doesn't smell nice with only blower on. With A/C things are ok. I wonder how can this happen. The air whether it comes through the A/C or blower unit should come through the air filter only. So how does it smell different in these 2 cases?
Earlier, I had some unpleasant smell coming out of the A/C duct for initial 10 seconds once the A/C is switched on. So I tried the A/C neutraliser spray by Gulf Car care into the A/C ducts. And it looks like it works better than before. But I won't say it is 100% ok.
