Is car performance without safety systems better - due to less load on ECU?
Let me take the Getz as an example ,
In the Abs version of the car , the ecu keeps monitoring the different components that form the ABS for wheel lock-up right ?
And this keeps happening every few Milli seconds,
So,in the non ABS version, Is the ABS part of the ecu is disabled ?
If yes then the processor is not burdened by the safety system and so,the extra processing power can be used to make faster calculations ,like air-fuel ratio and the other stuff it normally does..
This also holds true for all other systems like the air bags , stability program etc..
Is there any performance benefit if the ecu is free-er ??
There should be some kind of benefit right ?

IMO, it all depends what is the capacity of the ECU. Over the period of time like the RAM of computers has increased like wise the capacity of ECU has also increased from 8 bit to 16 or 32 bits.
Quite an interesting topic.

As said earlier, i think the ABS is a seperate module which communicates with the ecu as necessary. I don't think there will be any performance gain if the ECU has less tasks. If ever a car with more features needs more computing power, i think the manufacturers would equip a more capable ecu in that model.
