Atleast they have the statistics and are releasing it, can you let me know the same about other products. They just claim it improves the performance, no stats.

Nobody will make such wide statements if the product does not perform and we need to test it out before bashing it.

They all will. And they wouldnt be the first ones to have over-played supposed advantages, if at least to attract customers. Darn if the customers dont return for second helping.

Sure they have forwarded numbers. But wonder how good are those numbers. Can you imagine - something that give 35% improvement - that would be like 3 generations ahead of current technology.

If it did work, everyone would have been using, and it would have been promoted far & wide by all & sundry.

@Ignazio & @mpescatori have both put forward valid arguments. A single product cannot help tweak behaviour of both Petrol & Diesel. For Petrol, higher Octane number will help it resist comubustion. FOr Diesel, a higher Cetane number will make it more combustible.

Of course we should test it before bashing it. All the more fun to bash it after testing. Till then, I'll prefer to be pessimistic.

We have discussed such products & such behaviour before. IIRC, a recent discussion had a member vociferously defending the product without having any numbers to show for the product performance. And he said he wasnt on their side !

I remember, even ELF used to sell multi-additive in 10 ml plastic bottles (blue coloured, red cap), for both Petrol and Diesel, I used for my Santro and my brother for his Indica, so no surprises here for using the same pill on both. It was when the premium fuels were just introduced by these oil companies, it was around 2003-2004.

But yes, thats the right way, rest all are opinions, unless supported with some practical experience or stats.

Depends. But when a person is convinced, and with a reason, it shows. Else it will look more like marketing talk without much to back it up with.

Note : Quality of pic is squarely because of using a N70 when shooting.

No, it was a small flat rectangular blue bottle with white print and a long neck towards one side of it with long pointed red cap.

For representation sake, it was like the harpic bottle with a straight neck but smaller.

Searched the elf website but am unable to find any reference to either desol, desol 243, no listing of this product in their international or indian website.

Can you please post the URLs where more information about this product is available.

The only link I came across was of : aalishanpetro, a distributor of the additive, which mentioned that the product is manufactured by ELF Pennar Chemicals. I cant find any reference /links to pennar chemicals either.

From this website, it seems they are mostly selling it in bulk for industrial usage and heavy duty engines.

It's in spanish, & needs translation. Going from the <1% I could make out, it does seem to refer to the same usage ratio as seen on the sachet - 20ml for 50 litres of diesel = 0.04%.

@smsrini, that info was from a while back. Check the link I have posted earlier refereing to another thread here on TBHP.

Hey guys, lets stop picking, I dont think anyone of us got demos for the STP's, System-D or ELF's, we all bought, tried and posted our feedback and based on that more people either hooked-on or the product went kaput.

This is the best I could do, to get all the information and post it here. If you need anything more, you have the contacts, please take the initiative.

And please post your feedback if you intend to try it out, this will help others.

But still, questions do come up.
* Why is usage measured in terms of time - 1st two weeks, then the next 2, and then the regular usage levels ?

* What exactly does this pill do, esp If usage levels are based on time elapsed.

Yes, we didnt ask Iftex or STP for demo's. Iftex was promoted by Tata Motors & BPCL. STP & ELF are well known companies. But none of these companies claimed anywhere close to even 10% - on the lower side. 35% is quite far fetched.

Btw, do you know that even Castrol has an additive for Petrol ?

• Initially they are suggesting a higher concentration, less liters of fuel and higher pill strength so that the initial deposit cleanup is taken care and effects are seen faster.
• Other additives suggest that effect can be seen only after 1-2 tankful only. You can follow that method too, just add 1 pill for 60 liters.

• I have yet to see that statement from any one of them wherein they even claim anything in numbers except that they clean up. Here also gains will vary based on driving conditions and engine type. I agree with you, 35% can be seen as an upper limit.
