Just had the battery replaced on my Honda Jazz yesterday. It was one of those Sonic batteries that Honda provides (OE?) on the Jazz and it lasted me exactly 2 years and 2 months. Had it replaced at the Honda Service Station with another one of the same brand as per their recommendation. Warranty period is 2 years.

This is kind of record for me, my innova oem battery lasted 6 full years before been replaced day before yesterday. Unfortunately had to use Toyota's on road service, who don't exchange. Yet to see how much this 6 yrs old fetches me.

This time, I opted for the OEM recommended DIN-50 Exide Matrix for the Palio 1.2 Petrol and bought it online from Battery Bhai.

I've had fuse and relay burnouts more than a couple of times and I suspect that it could have been caused due to the higher amperage in the DIN-55. However the DIN-55 served me well.

Swift petrol oem amaron lasted 5 year 9 months. There were signs of aging but my car still started at first crank in cold Bangalore mornings.

Reason why i changed? Well it was really old and i did not want surprises. Also car was sometimes not starting if stopped at signals leading to awkward moment

Technical person told that perhaps one of the cells would have gone thus throwing sudden surprises.

I went for exide champion with 18 month warranty for 2700 after exchange. Did not want to spend much since i don't plan to keep my car beyond 18 months.

Overall i was happy how my battery lasted so long

My six year old Exide has died today. The car is a Ford Ikon 1.6 Petrol. I checked on batterybhai and the batteries seem fairly priced. I wanted to know how much can i get them at a shop compared to the online method. Any assistance would be really appreciated

I am looking at this option
SF Sonic FSJO-DIN36(LH) with old battery rate Rs. 3550.00. Is this a good rate? Thanks

edit: Also to add: Since My battery is flat now and the batterybhai site was COD , I have placed an order. If you think that this is not a fair deal I can cancel it as well. Thanks

Catalyst, why not the Ford's Motorcraft battery? It is VFM and is reliable, as per my experience. Costs below 3k, i guess.

I got the Amaron Flo for 3900. Been a while i been to Ford for anything. I brought the old battery myself and got the newest battery(as per date stamp from the showroom) and fitted it. Now i realize i should have changed it 2 years ago. Crank is super fast. The battery came with a 2 year replacement and 2 years pro Rata. I had a few symptoms for the last 1 year

1. Surging idle 100 rpms when warm idle (Guess the ECU / Sensor likes a constant voltage) Some cars are more sensitive
2. grinding noise from starter occasionally
3. Gap between starter motor revs
4. Dimming HU when bass is played. ( when car driven at night for over an hour)
Now they are all gone! Old battery was Exide Matrix which came for 5 years as well. So happy camper!

I guess it is the 44 Ah battery?

For the old 1.8 diesel, the 44 Ah from the Motorcraft is woefully inadequate, as 'heard' from the starter motor speeds.

I guess this is the reason for a bit of delay in cranking speed. I checked with a tractor battery(100 Ah) and it started up in no time(cold).

Delhi is pretty cold now , no time better to check the CCA. Yes it is a 44 Ah battery compared to my older 36 Ah one. Petrol does not need that much Ah to start. 100 Ah for a car is overkill but I would not mind having. Check the drain and it showed 0ma. I do not have autocop etc. So when it is off it should be off. Or if there is a drain it must be less than 50 mA.

My Maruti Omni came with an OE Exide battery which has lasted me 5.5yrs upto now and is still going strong although the top up frequency of distilled water has increased in the last six months. The battery is not of the non-maintenance type.

My Alto's battery started showing some cough and cold recently. It was a Speed (TAFE) which was bought for 1700 bucks and it served well during these 4 years.

Replaced with Amaron Black since I have good experience with them earlier. Black is a cheaper (FRESH is the cheapest) model with 18 months warranty (no further pro-rata etc). Cost was INR 3050 and got INR 450 for old battery buy back. Effective price INR 2600.

Please note that there was a recent price hike (post Dec stock), else price was even 100-150 bucks lesser.

Estimated cost of bmw (525i) battery replacement is Rs.48,000 at the dealer.

Request advice from other Bmw owners , if they have ever changed their batteries out elsewhere except the dealer.

Currently, it has the Varta AGM 12v 80 Ah OEM battery.

Im told that i could even put in a 100Ah battery.
checked out
http://exidereachout.com/products/exide-xpress.aspx
options are MHD 800/880/880(LH)/1000 (price range 14k -17k)
but am not sure which one to select. Also, not sure if these are AGM batteries. There is some kind of reprogramming required as well after replacement.

What are the options for replacements.

Request assistance in selection.

Phew! Rs 48K for a battery! The Exide Express range is not AGM, they are normal low maintenance lead acid batteries and require top ups at scheduled intervals.

Unfortunately AGM car batteries aren't very common place in India due to different reasons.

Amaron recommends the Pro range "AAM-PR-600131087" for 5 & 7 series BMWs. Check this:

http://www.amaron.in/choosebattery.php

Use the drop down menu to select.

You can also contact an Amaron dealer for further details on that particular battery.

Given a BMW's sensitive electronic/charging systems, before you buy do cross check with the dealer if the car's charging system accepts normal low maintenence batteries.

AGM batteries normally take higher charging voltages. Using a wet battery in a system set for AGM may cause the wet MF battery to require more than normal frequent top ups.
