Paid service for my Swift VXI

Dear Friends,
I have completed 8500km using my 1 year old Swift VXI and also exhausted all the free services (3 free service). 3rd free service was done when the km reading was 6500

1) Please suggest when to give for the next service.
2) Any idea how much does it cost?
3) I am planning to drive from Chennai - Trichy and back (approx. 700km), do i need to service the vehicle before going for the trip?
4) I have never opened the bounet of my car. Do I need to know the technical stuffs inside?

qanand go i suggest you through the manual once .....just tell your complaints about the car at the time of service.

@qAnand, if you want to just give your car a quick tune-up and overall fluids-check & top-up, MASS centers have a 6-point checkup service (labour charges 175/- in Kochi) and a 9-point checkup service (labour charges 220/- in Kochi).

I'd seen this information plastered all over the customer's lounge when I'd gone to give my car for service yesterday. I don;t quite remember all the checklist points, but other than the tune-up and diagnostics, nearly all the fluid-levels get checked and topped up. I guess you will have to pay for the fluids.

Read your car manual thoroughly to understand the car, features and service interval. If you look under the bonnet after going through the car manual you will have a fair understanding of the parts and fluid compartments.

It is good to check the engine coolant level and engine oil level atleast a month.

It is better to get the car checked before going for a long drive.
Carry a set of spare head lamp bulbs, tools and ensure that the spare wheel is in good condition.

8500km is too less for a 4th service going by this rationale which is typical for most petrol cars

1st Service: 1000KM
2nd Service: 5000km
3rd Service: 10000km or maybe below that
4th Service: 15K Km or less

So don't you think at 8.5K the service for 4th time is too early?

Actually I knew it was too early for me to give my SWIFT for the 3rd service, but the validity period was nearing by, so I had no choice.

My friends told me that if the validity period is over, they don't accept the free coupon
