@ Kuttapan that was not only for you, in general.

All i am trying to say is why would one like to do something like that?? When there is some provision made why not use it? besided for sure something or the other is getting scraped there when that sound comes.

Oh ! You were talking about using the clutch. I took your question to be about the meshing of gears.

Anyway, I am also of the opinion that clutch should be used when shifting gears. Unless you are racing cars and there is significant time to be gained by not using the clutch and rebuilding is one of your favorite pasttimes.
