Thanks for showing interest. I noticed this problem after delivery. I thought that as the car is new so vibration is present but it was persistent so I asked for your help. Also in the last row it is more prominent than the middle row. Or is it due to axle touching the underbody?

I don't see how that can happen. As this problem appears only when you cross certain speed threshold, it is likely to be a transmission issue. In my old Amby, similar problem cropped up and was traced to the propeller shaft bearing. Ask TASS to give a thorough check - Crown Oil, rubber components etc.

Default Need Help

Guys i need help with diagnising the problem.

I recently got a new set of Yokos. I had got alignment and balancing at the time. All was OK.
Now the Safari pulls to the left.. in approx 4k kms AND ive observed wear on the right inner front tire.
I went to the TASS this morning and they say its probably due to a worn shock absorber, and will have to check for that and it might not be an alignment issue.

What could be the actual problem.
Should I get the tires rotated and wheel alignment done and do a long trial before I go tot the TASS to check the shocks... because im sure.. they will want to replace it... or could it be a shockup issue..?

Tie rod seems to be the culprit, not the shocker.
It could also be camber.

I will get it checked when the car goes for its servicing. Gurus are there any other possible reasons for this problem. I am asking because I can point it out to the service people.

Hi Guys,

does any one has acclometer error in their safari.

the issue in the safari for the check engine on my vehicle is just because of that acclometer, and it cannot be solved(replacing the ECU will solve).

as per the TASS Advisior, there is no issue with the error.

and there is no impact on the vehicle and even he was telling that these is a known issue with all 3.0lt dicors.

any one has this problem

What is an "acclometer"?

1. There is nothing in a vehicle that cannot be rectified if it goes bad. a. If it has been put together, it can be taken apart, and b. If it has been put in as a component (e.g. sensor) or part of a sub-system (e.g. acc. pedal assembly), it can be replaced. The issue is the replacement cost.
2. Component failure in an ECU MAY require it to be replaced, but there is nothing that can fail and yet the ECU operates normally as far as injection is concerned. All ECU components, if they show an error on plausibility check, will cause the ECU to either not allow engine to start/work, show error codes in the display (cannot be reset), or switchover to limp-home mode of operation

It will be a really strange thing that TASS marks something as 'unresolveable' and advised Service Supervisors to shrug their shoulders and say "don't worry, nothing will happen" or "ECU change will solve it".

No, better double check elsewhere or call TASS HO and ask about it. Do over-rule the TASS advisor's possible unthinking mistake in advisory - he could possibly have been too lazy to enquire internally and do the right thing.

TASS guys often try to shrug of customers. For most of them, until the vehicle can go from point A to point B, its 100% fine.

Default Rubber Beadings

Has any one noticed the door rubber beadings, to the drivers door and above the beadings got cut and had to be replaced completely. Also notice that at high speeds wind actually gets into the cabin which is affecting the ac cooling...altenatively I own an ikon which has been there for years and not a single cut has been noticed till date..guess Tata guys need to find better vendors for these products...

Agree with Kalsu

Seems like the non-core parts of Safari are of sub-standard quality. In my case the AC hose pipes cracked as many as 4 times at different times and the TASS guy himself admitted that these pipes, hose, rubber beading, battery and even tires are of inferior quality to bring down the cost.

I am facing a new issue in My Safari. My Safari's 2nd,4 th,reverse gears do not engage properly especially reverse. I went to TASS for first service. There was another guy with same complaint. Our's are BSIV bought in month of June. The service engineer was saying same problem detected in new BSIV safaris. We found that when we engage reverese gear gear rod was touching the console and does not have enough space for movement of gear. He changed gear rod but was of no use. Then he bended road(Some Jugad) but the problem remains same. I asked him to do cluch bleeding. He has done it but still sometimes i am not able to engage first gear or reverse gear and as rod is bended so now my hand touches with stereo. They have informed this to tata motors too inwiriting for possible design flaw.Pls let me know if anyone else faced this problem and what could be the possible solution.

Well let us understand more clearly you face two problems.

1. The gear lever almost touches console with a gap of just one finger maybe
Now this is normal for safari.
Gear lever will not travel any further otherwise as well and gear should be already engaged in this position.
So if the problem is gear not getting engaged changing lever or bending it will not help in any way.

2. 2nd ,4th and 5th gears do not engage sometimes.

If after clutch bleeding this problem persists then they need to check the gearbox and synchro mechanism and fiddeling with gear lever is not a solution. Are you able to engage the gear if you do double clutching ( presss clutch - release and press again ) ?

I am able to engage gear after double clutching(Pumping clutch paddle 2-3 times)

Due to very less gap , cover on the gear rod is torn
