Default Ceekay VS Valeo, which Clutch

I got the axle work done y'day, got both right and left changed. And the car is running like a dream.

Now I am confused about the clutch. Most of the Mechanics and friends who have driven the car, they feel that clutch is okay, though on a harder side and I still can manage with it. However as many of us know that I faced a strange problem. Here is the thread.

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/techni...sed-climb.html (Esteem refused to Climb)

So I am thinking that I should go ahead with the clutch change. I talked to couple of dealers in Patel Nagar and Karol Bagh. They are giving Ceekay set for Rs.1950 and Valeo for Rs.1260. The bearing is another Rs.425, however I do not think I need a change of that, as there is no sound from my clutch.

Now what is the difference between the two, I am attracted to Valeo for obvious reasons (read money ), but if ceekay has something better to offer then I don't find going for it too. What do you guys suggest ?

Hi Buddy

No matter what if you getting the clutch and pressure plate replaced also change the Bearing and you don't want to spend extra money & time on labour for changing the bearing latter.
Normally people change all the three at one go

original valeo would be the best bet ..but valeo in india is from amalgamations .I had bad experiences with them earlier .
Best bet would be GP parts .

Valoe non asbestos clutch are the best and for sure long lasting.

My M-800 has run on 3 clutch plates(Just for the heck of changing) since 2.20 lac kms.

Trust me they are good, they are bit pricey compared to the ordinary ones.

Cheekay is actually Cheekay-Daikin which is a Japanese design and I believe its the OE part for lot of Maruti products.

Valeo is always better, if you manage to find original one. look for a green packing with hologram
I am sure one (Ceekay) that we are getting in india is not from Daikin.

The Valeo I have seen last time was in a blue box, and it was labeled PHC (Some South East Asian name). But at the same time I also saw a Green box with Valeo label on it, I thought it might be for some other car (The dealer didn't show me the green box one) .

I would put my money on Ceekay. Ceekay is indeed from Daikin which incidentally owns Exedy also. Also from friends experiences ceekay is a clear winner.

Shashank

Just make sure that you are putting the same one i.e. Valeo/CeeKay which is already there in car.
Both these companies make parts for Maruti but still stick to the one which is already there assuming that it'll be your ist change.

And dont forget to change the Release bearing along with clutch/Pressure plate.

There is a Ceekay Distributor in Kashmere Gate in case you wanna have the original stuff and save some bucks.

as of now, Valeo and Ceekay are equally matched here. Leaving me more confused.

Shashank! 12yr old carb Esteem, with Picasso's finest art on the body. You have only driven it 40 or 50K in that much time and you also have other options at home to drive so how does it really matter what clutch you're looking for!
Unless you were serious about Raid De Himalays!?

Shashank Bhai, nothing to worry.. both are more or less equivalent.. Look at the pocket friendliest one

Do take care from whom you get it installed, as this is a job for which one needs to be very much experienced.

Shashank, Ceekay (also pronounced as Check-ee) is a good product. Valoe will be available as imported.

My friend also recommends a Korean brand in the market called 'PHC' which is very good too. The all India distributor is in Kashmere Gate.

My friend is still on his way to the office, he'll find out the prices for me when he reaches.

Market Source: Kashmere Gate
