That 0W-20 is for new Honda engines. I'd recommend you stick to the viscosities mentioned in your manual.

Thanks R2D2. But where do we can source the Idemitsu 5W30 from?

Secondly, I was just browsing some websites in which they quoted that 0W20 is also suitable for R18 series engine because it ain't that dated engine.

Yes you are completely right that the manual printed back then by Honda Siel India does not mention the 0W20 grade.

I think i will carry a 4 liter Liqui Moly 0W 40 can to Honda while giving the car for the next service. If they refuse to use my engine oil can then I will get it done from outside and do only a service without the oil change from Honda. I hope 0w 40 is a good for the Civic. Other option is Shell 5W 40 but i felt the car was smoother on the Honda OE oil.

There are 2 minor variations of the R18 engine IIRC depending on the year the car was manufactured in. So the only way to be absolutely sure what Honda recommends for your engine is to read the manual. If I were you I would balk at using a xW-20 oil in a car which does not have an explicit recommendation.

Idemitsu may be a trifle difficult to source. But you can get other brands of 5W-30 mineral or synthetic at Amazon India.

I'll also check with my HASS. If they also have moved to 0W20, then there's no point to take my car to Honda. I only went for the oil anyway. My FNG can maintain the car perfectly well otherwise.

Meanwhile, I've sent a mail (as attached) to HCIL Customer Relations team regarding the case.

Let's see what they have to say through official channel.

Most good accessory shops will arrange it. Seldom will they have it in stock.
A one with good fitting will cost upwards of 4K. The one's costing 2.5-3K do not fit well and the A/C control switches tend to get stuck in them and the 2-DIN unit outer trim too will not fit well. I have the 'sasta' wala on my car and both these issues are there. had to grind / sand the edges for the AC buttons to fit well enough, while the outer trim is ill fitted. But have to live with it as of now. I know the 4-5K one fits like a glove coz I've seen it on a friend's car.

Thanks, is it possible to check with him on how the factory fitted head unit was replaced with aftermarket Pioneer while using the factory provided fascia?

If the new unit is also 2DIN then it should be a straight replacement. 2DIN is probably the most popular size. The wiring may have to be redone.

Thanks, I think I have stowed away the original head unit somewhere. Will try to locate it and talk to the accessory guy.

Thanks. I've only got the front suspension overhauled. The rear suspension was checked and found to be in a good condition. What I've done is installed spacers at the base of the spring.Honda had a flimsy piece of plastic, hardly 2-3mm thick. The ones I sourced from Ghai is made of hard rubber and adds about two inches of height. So I don't have the issue of the rear bottoming out anymore.

Hi Professor,

In my humble opinion aftermarket Double Din units would require an aftermarket frame (like the ones used by Sumeet and others) to be installed in civic as the factory fitted ICE system is a complete moulded unit that sit flush with dashboard and it is highly unlikely that the accessory guys in local market would be able to modify the factory fascia for an after market head unit.

I am attaching a pic of the frame that i have along with the factory fitted system thats there is my ride for your comparison.

Kunal

I am trying to source Liqui Moly 5W30 for my Civic's next oil change but currently it is unavailable on Amazon. The next available options from the same brand (as I want to try Liqui Moly) are 0W40 and 5W40. Which of these will better for the Civic? Price difference between the two is not much.
