Oops! I think I spoke too early...
This is not an Indian Palio. The guy claims he is a chinese, (does Fiat sell in China?).
Neither the model and version of the car clear.

Well nothing much, the ATS0 command tell the ELM to go into Auto protocol mode and will very much try with each protocol it can, but as from your SS it wasnt able to connect.

Bringing this thread back to life. I was at Prerana motors ,OMR for the AC update. There I saw this guy connecting the OBD connector. Though he did not know much, he was able to give me the information that it was CAN and k-line connector. I saw on the OBD connector also, that the CAN and k-line LEDs were on when the communication was happening. I forgot the name of the connector though.

Now to my fav part, asking questions

I know that ELM 327 connector supports CAN but not sure if it supports the K-line.

Dadu: Your inputs required.

I do not know what K-line is, if its a prop. hardware then so be it because K-line is definitely not a standard OBD protocol.

@ dadu: Wonderful thread

Can you give me some pointers as to how to get the hardware and is it universal plug and play for all diesel / petrol vehicles or otherwise?

Maybe should get cracking on the codes for all vehicles !!

cheers

Hardware can be ordered online, either delivered directly in India (risk with customs) or to someone in US and then carried personally to india.

Its universal as long as the Manufacturer has followed the OBDII standards. Supports all OBDII protocols. If the vehicle supports OBD, the OBD codes are pretty well defined, so no need to put efforts there.

K line and CAN are 2 different protocols. ELM 327 support both of them.

You can get the ELM 327 datasheet online. It might help.
