Oh. Pedal stays there after it comes up when pulled with hand?

Do check the master cylinder and its linkages.

Other than towing the car I see no other alternative due to the clutch pedal.

IMHO, why risk the situation of doing a jugaad. Tow it to the FNG and get it repaired.

As it is holiday time, getting an FNG also is doubtful till Tuesday. If not a flat bed truck, use a Tata Ace type to get it moved to a safer location.

If the FNG is within a couple of kilometers you may be able to drive the car using techniques in the 'Clutch-less Driving (Emergency driving - Without clutch)' thread.

You could try driving the car to the FNG when traffic density is low, like early in the morning.

If you have another car, you could try towing it too.

IIRC, the Vista quadrajet comes with a master cylinder and a slave cylinder. Over a period of time, due to bad parts quality or hardening of the pressure plate, the slave cylinder linkage to pull the fork breaks and the exact symptom happens. Same with the master cylinder also.

Actually, the right phrase is clutch cant be disengaged. It always sticks to the flywheel and cant be disengaged.

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/techni...ut-clutch.html (Emergency driving - Without clutch) ??

Well, call road side assistance, and explain the problem. Replacing is a 30min to 1hr job.

Towed the vehicle to the FNG. He had recommended changing both cylinders and clutch kit. Presume linkages will be part of the cylinder kit?

Default Re: Indica Vista - list of Known problems

I have recently purchased an used vista Vx. It has run about 17K km and is about 3 years old. I've observed the following issues and would like some suggestions/advice on the same.

1) USB not working
This comes with a built-in music system. The original owner has never used the USB (he was not aware of it!)
I find that the USB is not detecting at all. I have tried with various brands (Hp, sandisk, Kingston, Transcend, sony, etc) and various capacities (512mb, 1GB, 2GB, 4GB, 16GB)

When I checked with the Service advisor of Concorde (Near Silkboard), he mentioned that maybe the music system is faulty and no option but to replace it. Any suggestions on what could be wrong ? Is there some specialist whom I can show this in Bangalore ? (the system is blaupunkt)

2) Steering wheel vibrates on high speed
In speeds of 110 and above, the steering wheel vibrates a lot. Though I find this hard to believe, The SA again has said this is there in all vistas. Is it true ? I did a separate check with friends/online etc. and have a rough list of likely problems
a) Steering assembly
b) wheel alignment issues
c) tyre pressure or tyre issue (Currently running with 34PSI pressure on all tyres).
Any suggestions on what I can do ?

3) AC is quite weak. Also there is a bit of sound (a kind of whining noise) in 2nd and 3rd speeds of AC. In the highest and lowest, this is not audible.

4) The back door (hatch door) doesn't stay up. It slowly lowers itself. Apparently the hydraulics attached has gone kaput. Is this replaceable under warranty ? The car is having an AMC till March 2016.

5) This is not an issue, but require suggestion. I want to install AutoCop and roots horn. Will this void the warranty ?

Has any other vista owner faced any of this and what was the solution (if any) implemented.

thanks.

2) Most likely wheel balancing only. Even after that if it doesnt get resolved, try moving the rear tyres front and then check again. Sometimes the tyres could have minor bulges
3) have you cleaned the a/c filter that is under the glove compartment ? most likely this will be the issue. post that if there is still an issue, check for gas levels
4) common problem with Vistas. each strut costs around 400-500rs. no clue on warranty coverage but no harm in checking

thanks.
Congrats on the new car Coming to the point immediately:

Problem 1: If the USB is attached via cable, check the cable and jacks. Though I haven't seen the system, but if the HU is otherwise working fine, I don't think much can go wrong just for the USB.

Problem 2: Hmmm...You have some pointers at hand. Add the most likely causes - wheel balancing and check the lower arms, CV joints and steering tie rod joints. Should solve the problem; given that the car has a clean history (from accidents). Stick to manufacturer stated air pressure or at the max 2 points over it.

Problem 3: Check for air bubbles visible on the receiver drier bottle in the engine bay. Better would be check refrigerant pressure at the AC service shops or even at the ASC.

Problem 4: Don't really know if they will extend that but given the image makeover TML is making an attempt at, it is worth a shot to try with them.

Problem 5: Not if done at TASS. But they would charge a premium rate.

Regards.

Today managed to purchase the parts for the clutch replacement job for my Vista which I reported above. Parts bought were

1) Clutch set
2) Release bearing
3) Master and Slave cylinder
4) 2L gear box oil

Went through some contacts to a direct distributor and got a neat discount of nearly 20% off the retail price ( not MRP - retail price is anyway below MRP ).

Hopefully this should solve the problem. Will know in a couple of days

Why are you changing the whole clutch when you didn't have an issue with the friction plate and pressure plate?
