Angry Alto : Engine Oil Light stays on. And some other issues

Guys I own an Alto 2000 Model. It as completed 1 Lac+ KM.

Yesterday i gave my car to my dad. He came back after 5 - 6 hours and said there is some major problem with your car. How do you even drive it ?

I thought he was pointing towards heavy steering, uneven tyres or gear lever vibrations. He said i think your engine went kaput.

I was no it can't be. I went down and popped the hood checked the engine. Everything was intact under the hood. Started the car and engine oil light refused to go away and engine was make in clak clak clak sound. Turned the car off checked the engine oil and to my surprise the bloody oil level was 2 - 3 inches above. But then I came back to senses and checked the engine oil after 2 hours and to my surprise the oil was still 2 - 3 inches above the normal level.

I am suspecting its either piston or piston rings. Any pointer guys....

P.S. The car was standing on a plain surface while i checked the engine oil.

Did you change the engine oil recently?
Which oil are you using - MIneral or Synthetic?

Please give details as this will be helpful to nail down the problem.

I had a maruti 800 seized after radiator fan stopped working in a ghat section.there will be heavy knocking and imminent engine seizure.ask your father whether engine stopped in the way?.
Consider a Engine Overhaul or atleast piston ring replacement if the damage is very less.

Seems like the oil pump has given up and the bearings are burnt out!

Does the oil level drop when you start the car? If it remains the same, you'd better expect substantial damage.

I know KK, i am just waiting for some more $$$ so i can buy a good acoustic car

And you are most welcomed to Donate to ABHIBH's Acoutic Car Fund

Last service was done around 7K km ago.

@deepclutch My dad says the car stopped once but it was not over heating. I am suspecting a engine overhaul.

@anupam i am guessing a substantial damage

Looks like the engine is starved of oil circulation - possibly due to own of these things - oil pump failure, clogged oil filter (unlikely as there is a valve to by pass the filter in the event of a failure) etc.

Open the Oil filler cap and start the engine. You should see some sort of oil "spray" or droplets of oil when the engine is running. If there is no sign, stop the engine. It needs to be opened up for detailed investigations. It is time to call the professionals. Whatever you do, don't race the engine - you will only be adding to the damages.

The engine oil light is for low pressure, not level.

Take it to a garage and get it checked ASAP. Sounds like oil pump failure and/or compression failure.

If it was carb'ed engine with a mechanical pump, then it could have been fuel pump diaphragm failure but this is a ECU car i guess.
