The light suggests that it's time to pay a visit to a petrol station and get the tank full BUT your fuel needle is still just half way. Maybe get your tank float checked

Many a times it does not reset after topping up the tank. After turning the key off-on for two times the needle works and the light goes off. Happens with me.

if the car is parked with one side (left) in an incline - the low fuel indicator will glow even if you have more than 10 litres of fuel in the tank. it will stop glowing once you are on a level ground and start driving.

it is better to keep the fuel tank topped up. wish you many miles with the S10.

It is the low fuel warning light. I get that quite often in my colleague's Palio that is with me for the past 3 months. Sometimes I get it when I start it in the morning---even though I'd filled up 5 litres the prior day and driven only 4 kms after that!
