Default Team MHSSC Racing- Our FSAE car!

Hello friends, this is Rajeev from mumbai. I am a part of Team MHSSC racing which comprises of 20 students. We are the final year (passed out) students of the MHSS college, byculla.

This intention of this thread is to share our experience in the making of our own Formula type sports car for the FSAE event. for those who are unaware about the FSAE event, please go through this thread:
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...ny-2008-a.html (Report: Orion Racing India at Formula Student Germany 2008)

In short, this is an international event for engineering students where the teams are expected to design, build & race their own racecar. here, we will share some pics & experiences during the making of our FSAE car named "KARMA".

Since this is out first attempt in such an event, our design objective was- "simplicity & reliability". Keep the design of the car so simple that chances of failure are minimal.

First some specs:
1) 250 cc 4 cylinder engine from Yamaha fazer
2) Disc brakes from TVS apache RTR
3) Custom built steering rack
4) Shock absorbers from TVS Apache RTR (soon to be modified to our requirements)
5) Tyres from Yokohoma
6) Brake master cylinder from tavera

Work under process:
1) Electronic gearshift with LED gear indicator on steering wheel

Time for some pics:

I would like to clarify here that Team MHSSC racing has built a car earlier titled AM-01. By "Our first FSAE car", I mean that this is our team's first car & NOT team MHSSC's first car. This should avoid further confusions.

Note from Mod : The thread title has been edited to avoid further confusion.

Oh so that's what happened, it's strange what a particular sequence of words can do to perception. As they say, building a race car is all about attention to detail.

Raj,

Thanks for the pics.

It should be fun to see this project come along.
Its also interesting to see that you guys are using an engine other than a 600. I guess you have to make do with what you can get your hands on - else getting parts + paying for a 600 can be quite a pain.

Also - i'm a fan of just doing what i want, when i want, how i want -- but luckily some restrictions were imposed on me in the shop/garage and it DID save me some serious damage on more than one occasion.

Point i'm trying to make : Encourage your whole team to ALWAYS wear protective eyewear when using the machines, even if its a grinding wheel. Can save you an eyeball or two.

Keep the pics coming.

thanks for the motivation buddy. to be frank, i wanted the thread to be deleted, not because it was in this section, but because it was causing a lot of unneccessary & unwanted issues, so I thought its better to get the thread deleted.

but since you have changed the title, i hope now everything is settled.
thanks.
