Default Wobbling and Losing Pickup after a accident-indica vista

Hi all,

My Indica vista recently met with a small accident.I hit a santro car that jumped the signal and suddenly came in front of me.

The damage appears to be minimal(Damage to bumper, which will be replaced and slight bending of bonnet). However I saw that immediately after accident, the car's pickup has reduced and car is wobbling badly whenever I change gears from second to third ,third to fourth ,or whenever I increase/decrease the acceleartor.

I am giving it for service tommorow and the service guys estimate is that engine has moved slightly and that is the reason for this issue.

Please do let me know if you have faced any such issues or any solutions for this issues.

Thanks
Hdi.

Check for two things
1. Diesel leakage from the pipe(this sits in front of the engine)
2. Engine mounts
Do you also get idle surging?

When your engine is at idle speed(accelerator not pressed), it should idle at one speed. If speed keeps increasing and decreasing on its own, its called erratic idle. When idling engine speed rises in "surges" its called surging.

Check engine alignment and the wheels, if they are bent by any chance.

Wheel alignment and/or balancing may be required to solve the wobbling. Do get it fixed soon and don't use the car until then because it could be dangerous.

Came from the workshop right now and the Service advisor has told me that the intercoller is leaking and that is the reason for the sluggish pickup and wobbling.I looked at the intercooler and I saw some leakage

Since this is a plastic mixed part I have to pay 50% of the cost(Rs 4531)

So here are my questions

a) How important is the intercooler(Goggle says something about the air to the engine and its important for turbo engines) and what is relation to pickup

b)Will it ok if we just plug the leak and carry on (rather than chaning the intercooler)

Thanks
Hdi.

The intercooler is a vital part of the intake system of your engine, please don't try to skimp on it.

I wanted to say intercooler but you know already. See if its only leaking or the tube has displaced itself due to the shunt. My cousin's Indica Vista hit a dog on the expressway and he faced the same sluggish issue and in this case the intercooler tube was diplaced.

Guess you had taken insurance claim already and if you haven't then will suggest not to take it as the cost is not high and your NCB will get effected.
