Default Clutch Slave Cylinder replacement in Linea - Cars Recalled

There are a few reports in the forum that Fiat is recalling all the Fiat Lineas manufactured before september 09 for a Clutch Slave Cylinder Replacement.

So if you guys have bought a linea before september, just contact your A.S.S and see if your linea VIN number is in the fiat list for the change of C.S.C

Posting this here for Team-Bhp linea owners benefit !!

Is this only for Linea or it applies to Punto also?
Any Punto owners got it replaced so far?

Punto also

Many Punto owners (I know at least 25) have got it replaced. Mine was replaced last month

EDIT : @geeash : It is not ONLY for cars manufactured BEFORE September. I checked the list and some cars manufactured in as late as october were part of the list.

It's best to run your VIN through the list irrespective of the month of manufacturing.

@amoghchaphalkar - Can you please paste the list, if available?
My car has "JPZ" in its VIN number, it is manufactured in september. Should I get the part replaced?
Also what is the symptom/cause of the malfunction?

My car went in for a fuel pipe replacement as it was attacked by the rat, and when it came out it had a clutch replacement as well, under warranty. Alls well that ends well I guess . A just glad they identified a problem and did the best thing by replacing it under warranty. Kudos.

Guys, how long will it take to get this replaced? I just called up my dealer, he says "Sir, 1 day sir". Does it take a day?

Also, could anyone enlighten me with technical details of why this is being done?

No "problem" as such. Just that they have a better designed part now and hence are replacing it. It is a proactive action by Fiat and not a reaction. The current design of the clutch slave cylinder "may" develop a leak.

I cannot paste the list. I had checked at my usual service station. I could see it because of the good relations I have with my service advisor. I suggest you go to your authorised service station and check the list they have.

One day : Yes. Drop in the morning, pick up in the evening. If you are patient enough and have time, wait at the service station and get the job done in front of your eyes. The actual replacement does not take more than 30 minutes.

Technical details already elaborated in the first part of this post.

Thanks Amogh! Was there any noticeable difference in the behavior of the car after the clutch change?

Just checked with my SA at autofin, my car is also in the list (although i've never experienced any clutch issues till date).

Will have to get the replacement done soon. He said I have to drop-off the car in morning and take it at 3-4 in evening.

Time for others to follow the Fiat example to improve customer care and after sales initiatives for a safer drive.

Never thought I would see this statement anytime soon, but then, good for Fiat, I for one am really glad that they are getting their act together.
