Default Govt Inviting Suggestions for Automotive Industry Standards


This Ministry of road transport and highways intends to notify the Automotive Industry Standards (AIS) for various parts/Components/assemblies used in the manufacture of Motor Vehicles.

The notice is given to all persons likely to be affected thereby that the said draft will be taken into consideration after the expiry of 30 days from the date of its posting on the website. (this notification was uploaded on 18/03/2010)

The objections and suggestions to these draft rules, if any, may be sent to the Joint Secretary (Transport), Ministry of Road Transport & Highways

The suggestions have to be mailed to either:

The automotive standards under consideration:

AIS 004 (Part I): 1999, Amd. No. 1 (2003), Amd No. 2 (2008)
Permissible levels and methods of tests for electromagnetic radiation from automotive vehicle.
AIS 004 (Part 3): 2009
Requirements for electromagnetic compatibility
AIS 011: 2001 Amd. No. 1 (2004)
Testing procedure for windscreen wiping system for 4 wheelers other than M1 category of vehicles.
AIS 063:2005
Requirements for school buses
AIS 071 (Part 1):2009
Identification of controls tell-tales and indicators
AIS 071 (Part 2):2009 Requirements for control location and operation
AIS 075:2006
Protection against unauthorized use of 4 wheelers
AIS 076:2007
Approval of Vehicle Alarm System (VAS) for M1 and N1 categories of vehicles
AIS 089: 2005
Rear marking plates for heavy and long vehicles
AIS 095:2007
Requirements for metallic fuel tanks of automotive vehicles
AIS 104:2008
Technical requirements of fuel tanks for agricultural tractors
