Default Damage due to Hydrostatic lock

I would like to know what could be the damage to a Multicylinder (4 Cylinder Diesel Engine to be precise) leading to Hydrostatic Lock.
  • if water enters into the engine while it was operational.
  • if the engine is cranked after the water ingression while it was not running.
