re: Review: 2nd-gen Hyundai Verna (2011)

Why the heck coundn't Hyundai keep the SX (O) manual diesel under 10L? We could have saved some on the road tax here in Bangalore. Just because of 4K we will end up spending 30K more I think.

I too am not sure, but seems they are first time features for the segment. Anybody, to correct me?

Even I am getting the same error. Tried many times but no use (it is really frustrating). Any other links? It is not working in Firefox.

re: Review: 2nd-gen Hyundai Verna (2011)

In Karnataka up to Rs.10 lakhs ex-showroom the Road Tax is 14% plus cess and should the vehicle be over Rs.10 lakhs ex-showroom the road tax is 17% plus cess

Hence in Karnataka if the vehicle costs Rs. 999999 the road tax will be approx 1.40 lakhs plus cess and if the car is priced at 1000001 the road tax will be approx 1.70 plus cess. Hence Re.2 can drain a 30K hole in your pocket.

Interested to know if the 1.4 has ABS+EBD .Also considering the excise duty benefits and feature list of the 1.4 believe it has been priced on the higher side than compared to the 1.6(Diesel ).

Just 80K more than 1.4 to get a base version of 1.6.

Sandeep, from what i saw in the slides, the base version (1.4L petrol and diesel) doesn't have ABS+EBD and airbags.

This pricing is for Delhi. Add another 10K towards 1% extra VAT to get the price for Bangalore.

Thanks for the correction. But still we end up paying 35K more. The on-road price in Bangalore will be close to 12.25L. Hmm.. Let me see the car in flesh. I am oscillating between Cruze LT, Laura Tsi and Verna. Will let wifey decide.

re: Review: 2nd-gen Hyundai Verna (2011)

Hi

Just been to Advaith hyundai in Outer ring road showroom and saw the car. It's fantastic... but price for SX(o) CRDI is above 10 lakhs and i am worrying about the TAX part now...

Diff between sx and sx-o is 70,000 - CRDI Ex showroom and now my brain starts calculating the comparision and the feature sets...

My budget is 11.5 Lakhs if its beyond then need to drop the SX-O version.

oh man. Bangalore IS costly. Tax on everything including the TAX itself :P.
Hyundai could have priced SX-O 5k less to let the bangalore customers take the benefit.
Btw, is the tax applicable only in Bangy or entire Karnataka?

re: Review: 2nd-gen Hyundai Verna (2011)

My God! That's quite a surprising pricing and not in a good way. I guess Hyundai is playing their "costly car" card again. That's quite a disappointment for me. Launch of Linea 1.6 MJD no where near, Fiesta 1.6 TDCi is still in the back stage. Looking at new Verna prices, Vento TDi seems like most sensible in this segment.

My Prediction: Vento sales to increase due to launch of Verna. (The same, what happened with i20 when Jazz entered the market)

When I took the TD of Linea Tjet last week, the sales rep told me the 1.6MJD would be out sometime in july, at least that's what they have been told

The competition gets tougher now

Diesel Verna with SX4 , Vento , Linea and Fiesta.

This should be fun, expect City to go below 2000 units a month now?

If Fiesta is priced more competitively this will surely test Vento as well.
