Akshay, please answer a couple of questions.

Does the performance kit affect fuel consumption? Do both the LEDs in each side's housing work? In F30 one is a dummy. Infinity says it was meant for the LED that would have swivelled on corners/turns, and there is no way it can be installed now. What a pity.

Anyone having knowledge on these headlamps kindly advise.

Unfortunately what Infinity told you is correct. The inner projectors were meant for cars with adaptive headlights i.e which have cornering lights. The 3 and 5 series with xenons never came with adaptive lights. But not to worry the headlights are still more than sufficient.

It gets better with the kit if you drive the same way. Unfortunately after the kit you are inclined to push it more. But the efficiency doesn't change noticeably.

Now I am seriously considering getting paddle shifters for this car. The last time I took it on a drive to Aamby I really missed them considering on some corners I need both hands on the wheel, and it would just be much more convenient having paddles.

Besides that BMW has released a new accessory, which is a heads up display retrofit. Its kind of like the HUD in the new mini i.e with its own little screen but it will still be really cool to have. It will show speed, warning lights and navigation through an app on your phone. So if your car has navigation built in I don't think you can get that on the heads up. It will apparently cost 52k in India, and be available from June.

Here is a link - http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1063158

Oh also the car crossed 18k kms yesterday, and is due for a brake fluid change this weekend. Apart from that there is an annoying rattle from a cupholder, which I am hoping I can get replaced and be done with it.

Hey - you've done this on the X3 right or was it on the 320d? I'm confused now. It looked absolutely stunning when I saw it.

Cheers,

Some pics taken of the car last week at a drive, it looks great if I may say so myself The 3 has almost touched 20k kms now, Its become more of a weekend car now with the X3 being used more often since that is more practical. Still puts a smile on my face every single time I drive it.

As they say, all good things must come to an end. I have decided to let go of my beloved 3. I wish I could keep her forever, but I'm just not getting to use her enough nowadays. Hoping she finds a new owner who can use her on a regular basis -

Here is the advertisement. Request you to pass it on to someone who may be interested. The price is negotiable, but not by much.

No plans to replace her as of now, but sometime in the future I may pick up something.

Default BMW e90 Key Fob Issue

Gents - My BMW e90 Key Fob (320d 2011 Model) has been acting up and completely stopped working recently. Earlier it stopped working for weeks and then suddenly used to start working. Now its completely dead and I need to manually lock the doors and use the key to open them. The car starts just fine. I assumed the battery died out and tried replacing the battery with the exact replacement but this change does not seem to work. I did a messy job replacing it as the original I noticed had some welding on the battery. Now this manual exercise is quite annoying. I also notice and feel the car battery being drained out as I feel the car is still supplying power even when the car is located manually unlike using the auto lock.

Please can you advise if this can be repaired at an A.S.S in Bangalore or do I just need to approach the showroom? Is there a place I can buy this online as I read on a few Bimmer sites that as long as the ignition is turned on, the new key gets programmed automatically by placing it at a certain point in the car!

Looking forward to your suggestions.

Many Thanks!

I was under the impression that in this car, the battery in the remote was rechargeable, and used to get charged when the key was inserted in the car.

If there is a specialist key shop in your city try going there, otherwise the BMW aftersales is your safest bet.

It's taken a while, but I am letting go of the 3 sometime next week. The buyer is of course a car enthusiast, who reads team bhp.

This is the car which taught me what handling is all about. There are very few cars which are special like the E90. I will always cherish these years I've had with the 3. Right from how we suddenly picked it up, to doing the few mods I did. Each and every drive was brilliant, and had me smiling. It never gave me a single issue which would make it unusable. This is the car which made me go absolutely crazy about Bimmers and what they are all about. I really do wish I could have held on to the 3, and never sold it. But all good things must come to an end!

On a different note, I have found the vehicle which will replace this. And no, its not a BMW. But rather something with a three pointed star. I will get it within the next 2 weeks, and then reveal what it is

p.s - This is not an april fools joke.

Let me guess. The C250d?
Well, I was quiet impressed with how you have maintained your car. I hope the pointed star gives you as much excitement as the beemer gave and even more. Looking forward to another amazing ownership report by you.
