I've only got the door pads, hand brake sleeve & steering wheel wrapped in leather from Karlsson's.

That steering wheel job looks fantastic! How much did it cost you? Also did you have to give your car for a day?

I want to get a similar thing done for my Vento. It did not come with a leather wrapped steering wheel. The door pads look great too.

Taken the car for the Monsoon check up at Palace Cross service center for the 8 point check up.
Also they have changed the engine shock mount to the hydraulic type as per the campaign( since VIN number falls in this).

Shock mount changed.

Overall impression of the service center.

1. Punctual on start of job but off on delivery by 3 hours
2. Spacious and neat when compared to the other VW centers here.
3. Usual grease marks on body - Guess a trade mark of all VW dealer service
4. Remote location - literally to write off the day for service only.
5. seen 24 appointments on the display board, walk in's too is possible.
6. For regular service car needs to be left there overnight.

Some pics of the center.

Took the Polo for the first service yesterday. A very satisfied One year of ownership!

Kilometers clocked were low but has been a year's of owenrship.

Being the second visit to the Palace cross service centre ,(first being for Monsoon check up, 6 months back) was impressed in terms of improvement since then.

Initial impression about the service station - really neat and organised
Was was given the time slot at 9:30 am, reached there at 9:00 am.
People and employees start pouring real slow, after the 2 day dussehra vacation.
The SA does the briefing and walk around at 9:15 am

Was informed on the list of things to be done at 1st Service which were :
1. Engine Oil Change and drain screw (Chargable)
2. Air Filter Change (Chargable)
3. Dust and Pollen Filter Change (AC) (Chargable
4. Engine Oil Plug (Chargable)
5. Wheel Alignment (Chargable)
6. Labour, Consumables, Washing

I removed the wheel alignment option as was planning to do this later.

Attitude was very good and i'm quite satisfied with the work done.

Final Bill : 7941 INR

Saw many cars lined up Ventos and Polos. Many were accident vehicles.

I enquired whether new headlights (black) can be swapped with Polo's. He says it could come as spare parts but yet to get confirmed by VW. very impresssed with the SA handling of the service job and an overall satisfied experience.

Thats a very nominal service charge, a bill of 8k odd once a year is really good and nice to see that you were happy with your service centre, hard to find such cases these days. You have maintained the car really well

Did you ask them to remove and reinstall the brake pads and rear drums or was it done without your consent? I dont see a reason for this as your car had not run much.

Cheers

They inspected the brake wear but was specially instructed not to do any part replacement or such without my consent. Infact I mentioned that I am very satisfied with the performance and to just stick to the oil and filter change.

Got the car the same day and inspected for any damages which they usually the VW dealers are capable of adding free of cost!

Cheers!

Default Re: Welcomed into the family of Das Auto - VW Polo1.6

Got bitten by the VW -park brake bug recently.

Decided on washing the car last Saturday since the recent rains had left all the mud and especially the wheels needed thorough cleaning.
Note the Car is on gear and 'Park brake applied' in the entire process of cleaning
Decided to use water lavishly ( usually I only wipe the rims) directing jet of water on the rims more so on the rear wheels.
The entire cleaning process lasted a couple of hours, after which the car was driven ~ 500 m to the parking slot.

The next drive was not scheduled for Sunday.
Just as any normal Sunday we get ready for the morning drive and noticed as if the car is being held back. Tried again and the same issue. Immediately realted to the 'park brake not releasing' issue reported by some members here.
Never bothered to do any further trials and proceeded with our drive in the ever relaible Japanese car (kept as standby!)

Tried calling the service centre on Monday morning(10.00 am) and was informed to call the VW Assistance (Toll free number).
Called them and the usual dialogue of VIN number, problem , etc with a note saying they would get back. No response even after 6 hours and decided to call them.
Immediate response was that the Service personnel would contact the next morning.
Decided not leave it to the Assistance, I call the service centre ( a contact I know, since last service). Immediate action would be taken was that he promised and not more than 5 minutes, I get a call from the service assistance on directions to the location , etc.
In an hours time the Service guy arrives and as if this problem is bound to happen in all Polo's dismantles the wheels, brake drums and cleans with sand paper , sprays the 3M brake cleaner and repeats the same on the other. Hard to imagine just the liitle residue could jam the brakes in such a manner. Thanked him after the test drive and he proceeded to attend a Vento in the same area.

Barely a few minutes after this, the VW assistance guy calls for the feedback and rating which I have rated at the lowest.

Now I kept thinking all the while- Is this the right decision on purcahsing this car? German enginnering with precision in the brake design and maybe build to last brake liners? Maybe if the response of the VW guys were faster these Q's would not pop up in the customers mind.
Ever since this incident I follow the points as below which in short changing some patterns owing to VW 's design.
1. Avoid washing the rear wheels
2. Inevent of washing, release the park brake before doing so, and drive the car a km or so before parking
3. Never use park brakes on parking on even ground or for long duration.
4. Develop a contact at the nearest VW service guy.

Well it is a different story once you are behind the wheels with the hope that this is probably a normal issue but inconvenince caused due to the shoddy VW Service personnel.

Update on the 1.6 after a year and half of 'satisfied' ownership.

Taken to 3M Car Care -RMV extension and done the exterior detailing with sealant. Seen the 3M Scotchprint wrap films (CF wrap) and decided to do try at areas where maintaining the black seems difficult.

Story so far,
Current odometer reading: 12260

Visit to the service centre: Once

Average mileage (daily usage) ~ 14km/l

Issues faced : One - Brake jamming ( Park brake)

Here are latest pics.

Tried 3M Scotchprint CF black - Matte,on the front grill

@ the OVRM - but felt better to leave the mirror to boddy color

CF done since the black on plastic seem to be fading!

Update at 17474 and second service on 17th October.

The Polo1.6 was taken to Bangalore Motors( former VW Palace cross ) service centre with prior two week appointment.
Reached at 9:00 am and a fairly neatly and organised in parking.

Service guy comes on time and vehicle inspected on ramp.
Welcomed into the family of Das Auto - VW Polo1.6-20131017_084743.jpg

Underbody inspection threw no surprises thanks to the suspension /ground clearence combination in Polo.
Welcomed into the family of Das Auto - VW Polo1.6-20131017_085201.jpg

Instructed only to do what is needed in the second service and hence filter change( oil, fuel & air), Engine oil change, spark plug change and wiper blades. Delivery was promised at 6:00pm
There were some updates due by VW on routing of wires which was done free of cost.

Got an SMS at 5:45 the car being ready for delivery

Inspected the car, some more cleanining and drying was requested. also real panel on boot which was intact eralier seemed to be loosened now. Requested to fix and the service guy promptly does it as if it is a rotutine expected job for customer's to find such lapses.

Billing took some time, explantions of the job undertaken, old parts kept in the boot and requested for processiing the bill.
Welcomed into the family of Das Auto - VW Polo1.6-20131018_101347.jpg

The bill seemed as expected and overall satisfied with the service. The car seemed smooth and while driving on highway today could extract a mileage of 17.3 km/l a notch above the usual figure.

Cheers!

As part of the Volksfest drive, the below gift was delivered as being an 'esteemed customer'.
Thanked the SA and reminded them their service was far below than the accepted norm in the current AUTO industry.

Nearing 3 years of ownership, nearing 25k kms, and mostly driven on highways returned the best mileage to date.

A blissful 3rd year of ownership.

At 28k Km took the Polo for the 3rd Service to the Bangalore Motors Private Limited (VW Palace Cross Service centre) ,though had 60 days pending for the scheduled service, but since I have a busy schedule upcoming, tokk an early call.

Apart from the regular service I too experienced the famous air vent(2 nos) breakage.
An expensive affair and no point of arguing for free replacement as part of extended warranty, they would not budge for it.
Replaced brake pads though had a few more months to go had it done as i did not want to go again before the next service.
The Connecting link was too replaced as the rubber boot showed signs of rupture.

Overall a good experience at the service station and got my car back on the same day at the scheduled time.

Rest in Pictures,

The broken vent - Part cost INR 1572
