This is all only the opinion of my wife. Who is a picky woman.
I was almost expecting this. Just a guess – this may end with a Polo, or a Fabia 1.6

Amazing writing Sam, As always, love the subtle humour. Only problem is you write in pretty small installments.

Congratulations on the Yeti. Wish your wife many miles of safe driving on Indian roads.

How about the VW polo?
My wife has a strange way of pronouncing VW. You think she would say VEE-DOUBLE-YOU right? Wrong.
She says FAUW-VAY, sounding a bit like far-away.

Which is how it feels, the possibility of buying the VW.
It's just too expensive, say I in my gruffest husband-voice. Forget it.
But let's go take a look na?

Later.

This time we're at the Hyundai showroom. Here, nobody seems keen on assisting us. It's a couple of bored execs and one guy on a computer.

We would like to see the i20, say I brightly it is a very popular car isn't it?

Oh why waste your time and mine too? That's right ladies and gentlemen, She hated that too.

To be honest, the interior quality of plastics and stuff was better than the Ritz, but the car we saw had this plastic CHROME everywhere, including the gear knob and the door handles and the...
Well, to be honest, even I didn't like it. At all.

This must have been the shortest showroom visit in the history of Hyundai. The Kapasis stormed in and stormed out even faster. The i10 wasn't even an option and the i20 was clearly out.

We were on prabhadevi and it only made sense now to visit VW downtown.

I had a bad feeling about this.

She had already started looking at it online.
This is the Polo5 isn't it?
The Polo5?
yes, this is the absolute latest VW polo. Even in germany it is quite new.....
(she continues talking excitedly)

Yes it is a far-away polo. Quite far-away.

You, sir, are an artist with words. I relished every paragraph of that write-up and the tongue in cheek humor produced many a chuckle and a few guffaws. Not ideal since I'm in office!

I look forward to reading the rest of this post.

Another one who believes that they got a Yeti-TheSuv!

Despite the dimensions, I am pretty sure Yeti-TheSuv does not qualify as a hatch.

Sam, thoroughly entertaining account! Glued!

I am done with hanging on to every single of Sam's words over the past 2 pages, and I am not satiated yet! Infact, left hungry for more!
Sam's articulation is quite unmatched in anything he writes about , and Sam+cars is a winning combination. Needless to say, I am glued!

PS : Me thinks it will be a Polo. A diesel, at that. True German choice, that would be.

I guess I deserve this for being away from the forum for a while. A small clarification is required here. So I'll do it.

As the forum regulars know, I am the Yeti®. My stories are called YetiBlogs and they are not around as often as some people would like them to be. You will find a few on this forum for sure.

I was named so here at Team-BHP (and YEARS before Skoda released a car by that name), perhaps because of my wandering, travelling ways or because I am rather large and hairy. Nobody is really sure.

My wife did not buy a Yeti. And she most certainly did not buy me, I was transferred for free.
While I think she got a great deal she does debate the matter occasionally.

Perhaps you did not read the part where it says that her office is 3kms away from our home. And we have 2 other vehicles for weekend driving. A diesel would make no sense at all.

Man I am so jealous of you, your wife debates the matter occasionally, mine does it at time bound frequency; whenever we are at the mall

Enjoying the write up. I am sure a black/red polo has arrived.

Congratulations for the new car. Cheers!

And here I was craving for some Wodehouse humor !! Yeti® humor would do just fine till then. Your writing sir, is extremely witty and simple and that's why we just adore you.

Thank you for resuming writing again (yes it did appear because of the long wait as if you've given it up already).

Nicely written story. My guess is: Brio or the Jazz. Lets see how the story unfolds

Sam, Sam sam. Please don't explain yourself - every spare second has to be spent in writing the next instalment. We (oldies) will explain on your behalf. Right jkdas?
