Wouldn't these suspensions make the ride also stiff? How do you rate the ride in the TEIN'ed Innova compared to the normal one?

Also do you mean to say that TEIN is the cheapest of the three [Bilstein & Koni] mentioned here?

Hey Neo,
Nice Job!
How much were the damages?

Do you notice any smoke, when flooring the accelerator ?
From the looks of it, this mod seems to be done in the new, face-lifted model.
I'm sure this would void your warranty.

No damages..plug and play in 5 minutes
no smoke under hard acceleration in P2 ..may be because its new ..only done 1200kms on
No warranty void because you can easily remove it by yourself before sending it to service. i think at every 10000kms for fortuner is not that hard.

So what changes are you observing in your car now. Has the mid range torque improved? How's the rpm at 100-120kmph?

I meant damages to the pocket?
i.e. How much did the tuning box cost you? $$

The fortuner service intervals are as under:
1,000km
5,000km
10,000km

Trust me on this..

Congrats Neo_trace. You have converted the Fortuner into a fuel efficient more powerful monster. Well done.

How much is the efficiency in "E" mode?

Trust me on this..
In P1 mode city driving was very good experience. i was able to drive at 35 kph in 4th gear without any vibration.Turbo boost delivery is now very smooth and quicker.
In E mode Fortuner become sluggish @ 10-15%..But you can fairly notice. haven't tested economy yet in E.
In P2 mode Turbo boost very fast and early ...totally different experience.
Mid range torque is very very good
Haven't tested on 100-120 kph ?will report later
unit cost is 19999/-
@ service interval ..yes you are right As i passed 1000 kms service ,next service will be at 5000 or 3 months. But its plug and play..anyone can remove and fit again in 5 minutes.

RD told me to try Dtronics and drive for a week with money back guarantee..
Dtronics is a pre map tuning box but it constantly corrects map from your driving condition. They told me that fortuner will become different Monster after i drive 100-200 kms as Maps gets corrected and finalized.

Thanks for sharing. You were driving sedate this time when you got 16 kmpl ? Otherwise what FE have you observed till you installed the box?

Read that the old Fortuners were required to be taken for check up every 5000 kms though nothing was changed or replaced. Has this been changed now? No visits recommended at 5000 kms?

This is the same thing you have installed right? Or a different product? And what's the guaranteed power / torque improvement? 20% ?

They make the suspension marginally stiff not rock hard types. These are very expensive variable shocks unlike OE ones that are built to a cost. These expensive TEIN units can actually provide good ride as well as better handling. Moreover the TEINS are adjustable.

Price wise I don't know but I was referring to the brand TEIN. It's not chinese type low quality but right up there with Bilstein and Koni.

I would advice you to refrain from installing such performance box for at least a year into ownership. The Fortuner, as it is, is a torque monster, which can even do a wheely in proper hands. Enjoy the OE setup for sometime before venturing into experimentation.

As of Two days , i am driving in P1 mode in city which gave me 12.5 kmpl avg. display for my 4wd TFortuner. will post pics later

1.In city earlier i was getting 9.5 kmpl (on screen) without Tbox
With Tbox Fortuner showed 12.5 kmpl today with P1 mode constant on in two days
2.Yes, you are right 5000kms is only inspection mode ,and 10000kms is service mode
3. yes I have installed same Race Dynamics DieselTronics ,Guaranteed Power/Torque is 15-20% in P1 and 20-30% in P2
4. From My side....its a best investment i think from what i feel in 2 days....

Full Report will be after Wednesday ,as i am going to Ahmedabad via National express way-1 for 2 days.

Full report will contain
Surat to Ahmedabad 250kms with P1 Mode : On Highway FE and Power
(P1 Mode in city that gave me appx. 12.5 kmpl + good early boost)

Ahmedabad to surat 250kms with P2 Mode + E mode (on express way): On highway and city FE and Power

What they are offering is the TEIN Superstreet suspension with the EDFC controller which lets you control the stiffness of the damper of an electrical unit placed on the dash.

One of my friends had got this done for his old TFort from RRP. Will check with him on performance.

BTW, I had read in international forums that the TRD Sportivo Suspension kit is very stiff.
That cost is only for the suspension alone, AFAIK the Fortuner kit costs close to the lakh only, add the EDFC controller to it and you are looking at close to 1.4L, exact prices can be checked through Red Rooster.

TEINs are far superior compared to TEIN/BILSTEIN. I had konis on my civic before I shifted to TEIN Superstreet and the difference is beyond imaginary, the Konis were a total waste of money. TEINS maybe expensive but they are well worth the price.

Rightly said, The TEIN is better.

Not really, on stock rims and tires the overall ride quality will go up for sure. I am sure demo cars are available with Red Rooster to have a drive before purchasing.
