And am very happy i dint wait for the Storme launch, it would have pinched me if the Storme LX was priced close to Safari LX and if they had discontinued the Safari...

I feel the pricing is very reasonable, cant expect a better truck to come for lower price. a top-end bolero costs about 8.5lacs OTR in Karnataka and the Safari LX which has all the required features is about 9.3OTR(including discounts)

Now people who intend to buy a UV/SUV from TATA's stable has got some options to choose from and this will work for TML...

Only that they need to worry about the "quality" aspect, 1 niggle and the word would spread like fire and this will dent the confidence of the customers who already dont trust the TATA brand much...

Just happen to visit the TATA Aria website, they have introduced the Pure LX variant for 9.95L IMO this looks more attractive in terms of VFM when compared to Storme

If the punch line of the Safari Storme is real SUV then why not launching 4x4 in LX?

With Warranty of 3 years/1,00,000 km.

There goes another Tata the Aria way. Expect 1.5 lac rs discount or schemes like 0% interest rate within six months. Sales to stick around 1500(max) monthly units, and so on. On the other hand, Mahindra is doing extremely well. I feel even the Rexton is priced and positioned really well.

And yeah I could not thank myself enough. Glad I did not wait for Storme and bought Lx at just 8.1L on road (After discount). Ohh boy! I am so happy! Meanwhile they increased the prices of LX variant, costs about 8.6L on road in Pune after all the discount.

Mayank: Storme does not have the provision for a 2 Din. So there go our hopes of fitting something as nice as a Caska.

Arvind: Yes indeed the variant mentioned by you really is VFM. Given the fact that it is available on 0% ROI, what more do you want !!

However Safari's have always been a decision of the heart, and with Tata not getting the pricing right, they will remain so for quite some time to come .. And I am sure there will still be many takers

BTW, Carwale is out with the pricing for Storme, though only for New Delhi as of now.

Promoting as a SUV and no 4x4 - bad!

Reckon this might have been done to keep the price in check - since the base variant has already people screaming murder (even with the changes brought in) - just imagine what a 4x4 unit will put the pricing at?

Great confidence shown on the warrant front. Reckon no other manufacturers have such a cover. But what's with the years? Won't a 5 year warranty period make more sense when giving such high mileage? Or is it just a gimmick?

All said and done, let us see what the market says.

And yes, all of a sudden, I am happy I went for the GX 4x4.

I dont understand why are these guys so bent on giving customer's money to the RTO. Almost every state has higher taxes for vehicles above 10 lacs. Why not place it just below that mark so that people can save ssome money. The same happened with Duster too .

I believe prices are too high and this good SUV will die ARIA way. They cannot make numbers with this price. I am very happy with my old Safari LX seeing this price.

Well, I am another person feeling happy that i didn't wait for Storme.

I will be taking delivery of Scorpio Lx 4wd next week. For a moment i thought of Storme Lx 4wd, now Storme Lx at 11.5 feels overpriced compared to 4wd Scorpio Lx

TO TATA MOTORS: Congrats on successfully launching your next high profile market dud and for perfecting the art of outpricing yourself in the market ! We will now eagerly await your next product - the competitor for the M&M Thar ( to be launched at 9.99L ex showroom )

TO ALL SAFARI BUYERS IN THE LAST 2 MONTHS : You didnt miss ANYTHING. Continue enjoying your Safari without any sense of guilt

TO POTENTIAL XUV5OO BUYERS WHO WAITED FOR THE LAUNCH : Please dont waste your time any further and cut that cheque favouring M&M before they hike XUV prices looking at TATA

Ok, so it is launched.
http://www.bsmotoring.com/news/tata-...aunched/5888/1

I heard that bookings in the thousands have been garnered already.

Strangely, this is an event which points to the phrase - Success is a journey and not an event! There was so much lack of activity that I noticed it!

Expectation was to reduce the price of the Safari, and price the storme a little lower than now. Difference of 1.25 L ? 1L -1 .1L was more likeable.

Duster was looking over priced, and much more so now. Or did TML think if Duster can sell at that price, so can they ?

I concur with people saying that the prices are too high. Maybe if they were less by Rs.50-60k per variant at least till Diwali, that would have been much more tempting for people who were waiting for the Storme launch. Something like this?

LX: 9.50L
EX: 10.25L
VX: 11.99L
VX 4X4: 12.99L

Oh well, if wishes were horses....

Cheers,
Vikram

But Strome EX is almost equal to Safari GX. So the price difference is acceptable.

I was going through the storme brochure. The feature comparison might help many of us in choosing the version in terms of vfm buy. I was thinking to noting things down in paper but then thought of posting it so that its always there when anybody needs it.

From the brochure, the extra features in
EX over LX : Roof mounted Rear AC, Master light switch with fog controls,
Arm rest for driver and co-driver, Rear wiper, Front fog,
Rear fog lamps, B-pillar styling tape

Vx over EX: Power side mirrors, Combi switch with music controls, 3 aux
sockets as compared to 2 on LX/EX, Dual airbag, Reverse guide
system , Anti glare rear view mirror, Silver colored roof rails
and body colored footsteps as compared to charcoal grey on
LX/EX, Black interiors as compared to Sahara beige interiors.

Now, the pricing (ex-showroom Delhi) :

LX: 9.95L, on road approx 11 L
EX: 10.77L, on road approx 12.4L
VX: 12.37L , on road approx : 14.2

By seeing the feature list, if i remove the Dual airbags, none of the other features are something that i cant live with, especially when we see the diff of approx 3 lakhs between LX and VX model). So, all of a sudden LX seems to be most vfm.

Please give your inputs. Also, if you think that buying EX/VX makes more sense, then what could be that reason?
