Sorry for barrage of questions but I hope you can oblige. Also, do you give your car for service at Chandivali workshop ?
Thanks RJK,

I give my car for service at Thane, Ghodbunder Road branch

Accumulation of rain water in the trunk during monsoons;

This problem was noticed when the rear passenger seat felt moist, this was ignored at the preliminary stage as to thinking someone must have spilled water by mistake.

But then the seats got moist even after drying, which made me check my trunk & this was what was observed in the spare wheel area.

This problem was reported to the Renault ASS @ Thane.

The Problem was identified due to water seepage (during rains) through the parking sensors (which was a OE accessory fitted by Renault themselves)

Solution was simple, the circumference of the parking sensor was applied a sealing solution which will act as a seal.

This was done & was an entire days job because drying also took aprox 4-5 hrz.

Since then it has been about 3 months so far & the problem hasn't recurred

Thank you so much for this refreshing review.

Certainly makes me think of the Scala as a nice chaffeured driven city car for the "elderly and the beautiful" (aka my parents in law!). And when I am in town I could use it as a decent looking "business class" vehicle. (I would vote Scala/Sunny 2 categories higher then Dzire/Amaze)

Keep posting your experiences!

Isn't 30k kms too less for disc change? Or even pads for that matter.

BTW does Renault also recommend 6month/10k km service interval?

Yes, i agree that the brake pads wore out fast, but that depends on the driver & my chauffeur has a heavy right foot so no wonder brakes fried off fast.

But regarding the discs i was surprised too + no skimming/cutting option @ Renault ASC so had to change.

Service Interval is 10,000 kms / 12 months.

Beats me as to why Nissan insists on 6 months interval service for the same car!

It looks more like a money making strategy to me or just sheer ignorance. I use mineral oil only AFAIK. Will tell the exact grade after checking.

Nashik trip report;

The driver had taken a day off and i had a meeting to attend today @ Nashik.

So picked up the Scala off the lot to drive to Nashik as it had been long i had done a inter city drive (driving) the Scala.

I kinda fell in love all over again wit her & was over whelmed by the responsiveness of the the K9K engine. It just spins so well churning all the torque out & makes overtaking look very effortless indeed.

The engine has enough juice in it to keep cars like Innova, Pajero, Endeavor (i say this referring to the thread SUVs hav the right of way) well behind in the rare view mirror & diminishing & even some sedans like the 1.4 D 4D Altis are put to shame easily.

A major credit goes to the Michelins, which are the core strength of holding the speeds & such a psychological advantage when driving on the limit.

Also i'd like to point out how the car beautifully downshifts (which is seen during braking) thanks to the gearbox which is good fun thought not as slick as the Skodas / VWs but enjoyable enough.

Trip Log;

Mum-Nashik;

150 odd kms
FE - 12.9 km/l
Start time - 9:00 am
Arrival time - 11:05 am
Time taken -125 min

Nashik - Mum;

150 odd kms
FE - 19.1 km/l
Start time - 2:30 pm
Arrival Time 4:15 pm
Time Taken - 105 minutes

The moment;

I was really going pedal to the metal when i had to reach Nashik as was kinda late for a meeting, but managed a slower time to reach nashik & consumed more fuel than coming back, major reason was that the traffic in thane upto Bhiwandi & kalyan was pathetic.
While coming back the highways were pretty empty as it was afternoon time so was just cruising & managed a faster time back & good FE too possible due to the Kasara ghat downhill adding to the FE figures & no major downshift, just playing along the torque curve.

What a FUN DAY it was

Silvassa Trip;

The driver was out sick & i had to visit my factory @ Silvassa & again had the opportunity of taking the Scala for the trip

Oh and what a joy it was, i may sound like a fool praising this car so much over the other cars in my stable. But this new found respect "behind the wheel" for a change for Scala has gotten me excited about driving this car whenever i get a chance to do so.

Trip Log;

Total distance = 330 kms
Total Driving Time = 285 minutes
Total FE = 16.7 km/l

Now this was a quick trip to be honest, but was really impressed by the FE even after going all out on some occasions

Here's a pic of my car @ NH8;

Update;

40,000 km service;

The regular check ups were done with the regular replacements as scheduled took place.
Air Filter,oil filter, diesel filter, A/C Filter, Brake oil, Engine oil changed.
Total of parts & labor was a pricey aproxx 9k INR.

One immediate difference was the A/C before service was sounding too loud from the outside & now is silent & pretty smooth.

Rest, haven't driven the car yet so shall report back shortly.

Just saw two previous posts Karan. How come while going to Nasik FE reported was so low? While coming back, its is closer to what it should be ? Any typos or its some thing else?
