Update: My email to VW customer care worked. Yesterday a service representative called up from SC to talk about the oil issue. He confirmed that ADDINOL is compatible with VW cars but not recommended by VW India. Due to unavailability of the oil, they arranged an alternative which meets the norms with Castrol. I enquired about any breach in warranty of the vehicle due to this. But he was not willing to give any assurance. After some discussions with SM two technicians came to my home and swapped the engine oil!

That's great news! Good that the customer service team took notice and acted up rather than ignoring.

Since you requested and got the appointment for the service, it was their fault for not stocking oil and even for that matter, miscommunication between their stores department and the SA's for not knowing the current stock of oil in their stores.

Enjoy the car now.

Hi nidhinsarath, good to hear that you have completed 30k kms without troubles. Congrats. I am confused between i20 and polo tdi. I can see that you own both. If you were to go for a long drive (1000+ kms) with 4 people on board, which one will you choose ? And also is the cost of ownership between these two vary by a big margin?

Just noticed that you paid for AC disinfection along with your last service.

According to another thread (Scam alert : A/C Disinfectant) this seems to be unnecessary but common not just at VW but most brands in India. Did they ask you beforehand or was it forced on you?

AC disinfection was asked specifically by the SA before the service.

It costed me 8k. This is not a genuine accessory by VW. It's made locally by VAGTUNE, but the quality is top notch. Driver side area is a bit more lightened when compared to the co driver side.

This is the W8 cabin light which was sold in the Passat B5. Here:

An additional connector/converter cable is required to have it compatible with the stock connector on the Polo/Vento. Probably he meant that this cable was made by him.

Part number for that light (for those who're interested) is 3B7 947 105 F.

You are right Ganesh, Sugesh had mentioned about it. But according to what he said, this cabin light is a clone of passat's cabin light which is locally made by Vagtech Co. I'm attaching a few pics of the ambient lights in the night.

Hi Gannu,

I was searching for this connector and most of the listings on ebay are more than cost of this light on Aliexpress. Would you know any other site where we can get the connector at reasonable price.

Regards.

My vehicle crossed 45000 km in a span of 1 year and 7 months. Brake pads not changed this time too. I have never changed it after the purchase. According to SA it will last for another 10 k kms.

Wow nidhinsarath that is quite surprising !! You have 45K clicks and still not have changed the brake pads

Have you not once experienced the steering shuddering during high speed braking? If not, please share your style of driving and maintaining the braking system.

From what I have understood, brake pads on my GT went kaput at around 20k kms and according to SA it was quite acceptable/common

Either you are a very sedate driver or the brake pads on your Polo are made of something else buddy.
