The entire headlamp unit is sealed, hence replacing only the projector is not possible as per OEM standard. I feel the projectors would easily accommodate a 35W unit but from where can we source the D5S type HID since I believe it's one of the rare ones.

Stock HID bulbs are Osram D5S. Culprit is non clear leans and small reflector bowl of stock projector. I am planning to change the entire projector setup from Xenon Planet after few months.

Changing the entire projector assembly is a waste IMO, as it definitely spoils the OEM look of the stock headlamps and if you are finding vibrations in a Manufacturer's unit, I am not sure of workmanship of a Third party installation.

PS: If you had a thought of going for aftermarket projectors, you could have gone for Zeta(Losing Rain sensing wiper, Leather seats,Leather wrapped steering wheel and Auto IRVM etc) you could have saved nearly ₹1lac !!

Cheers !!

I am planning to keep up the OEM look. New projectors can be fit into stock shrouds itself. I can get a good quality projector setup within 20K from Xenon Planet with warranty.

Zeta 1.6 is very low on production and dealer adviced me to go for Alpha.

Please note: 1.6 Zeta is not the same in features to that of 1.3 Zeta.
In 1.6 Zeta, you will miss out Cruise control also.

Auto AC is also skipped in 1.6 Zeta. I do not regret buying top of the line Alpha variant. I have spent 24K on alloys and will spend another 20K for better projector setup in few months .

Heartiest congratulations on finally getting home the 1.6 S Cross. The Breeza alloys did make a huge difference to the side profile of the car. Looking so much better.
So which of the five cars do you drive most now? (i'm guessing the 1.6 DDIS! )

UPDATE : FE

I have got FE of 17.5 KMPL (tankfull method) for last 300 KM drive. MID showed 17.9 KMPL. AC was on full time in auto mode. Majority of the drive was on highways with moderate traffic.

Today I got to try 6 th gear for a stretch of around 2 KM. Car does around 1600 /1700 RPM in 6 th gear at 100 KMPH. I was surprised to see how well the car pulls above 100. Car was literally picking up speeds even in 6 th gear. I love my 1.6 more after each drive . I just can't wait for the run in period to get over. I have decided not to revv above 2500 RPM during run in period. Current ODO is 550 KM.

I can understand your impatience for the run in period to get over
One thing I really like about the S-Cross is the stability it provides at higher speeds. This car really masks the speed. You may not realize the actual speed if you are not looking at the speedometer.

Also, cornering at high speeds is also pretty good. Very little body roll and the confidence it gives for the driver is tremendous.

I have driven my 1.3 at higher 3 digit speeds just to check the performance. (Do not advice any one to drive above the permissible speed limits on our roads). Another aspect about this car is that driver / passengers will never feel the fatigue even during long trips.

I second that. There is good performance backed by rock solid stability at higher speeds. As mentioned in my review, this car drives like an European car .

I think you should raise the bar (rpm) now. I did a 300 km-300 km-400 km interval on my Swift D for raising the rpm limit while running in. I used to get phenomenal FE even after 80,000 kms on the ODO. Not sure the trick worked, but am sure it didn't hurt (the engine). And the works manager of AVG MA$$ told me that the internal components were in top condition at that mileage.

300 kms - upto 2000 rpm
301 - 600 kms - upto 3000 rpm
601-1000 kms - above 3000 rpm (whenever and wherever possible).

PS : There is no scientific backing for the above process, I just wanted to raise the rpm limit for the car during the run-in and did this on my own. I still have a feeling at the back of my mind that I read about this somewhere.
