Congrats Prasanna on the new 1.0L Kwid.
It looks especially great in white with the chrome Garnishes, great choice.
I was wondering if you were planning in getting a tyre upgrade for the car?
I think the car would look much more meaner on the road with a wider set of tyres !

Very detailed and extremely informative ownership report buddy.

Not only is your post the 'First Kwid 1.0' ownership review, IMO it is probably the best reference point for all future prospective buyers.

Wish you a happy motoring and drive safe.
Thank you Vik for the kind words!

I have driven the previous version and that of the new 1.0L engine and as you rightly pointed out, the jerk that was there in the 800cc version is totally gone and has got a much smoother drive now. Appreciate your unbiased review. Enjoy your ride.
Thank you Raptor!

Does it mean that the Kwid loses out on seating space because of the larger boot ? Also I believe the Kwid & Duster both are segment toppers in the 'Ride' parameter, but just gets a 0.25 more. So does it mean that the Celerio also has a good ride? Why would you give a better handling point to the Celerio ? I presume with a better power/weight ratio, the Kwid may accelerate better ? Its rare to have the same owner have cars from the same segment and that too both new.
Hi Paul,
Celerio is from one segment higher. It is clearly one size larger inside.
Yes, Celerio has an impressive ride quality too.
I gave better handling points to the celerio because it inspires more confidence with wider tyres and better brakes. Body roll is comparitively less too. Acceleration is seamless in Celerio than the Kwid, but Kwid can reach better top speed.
Celerio was bought as our Chevy Beat's replacement. Kwid was bought purely because we loved the way it looked and priced. It is great to drive too. Another reason being, to give some rest for the Ciaz and Safari while using the smaller cars for errands and local drives.

Thanks!

I wanted to upgrade but Renault dealer was not ready to buy back the stock steel wheels. I thought I would wait till the stock tyres get worn out and then may be go for 175/70 R14.

Thanks!

Congrats Prasanna Dhana! Great looking car, it gives better street presence than its competitors.

Nice review covering all aspects in detail. The arrow mark to let us place the car jack correctly on all four sides is a real nice touch which all car makers must incorporate in their cars.

Wishing you a long and enjoyable driving in the years to come :-)

The fit and finish looks pretty good. Congratulations on your baby SUV. Nice and detailed review! I really liked the way you built up the review with so much of ease, and in an elaborate manner. Seems straight from your heart!

Congratulations Prasanna .

Great review indeed and it helped me take a peek at your Safari ownership thread. I wish I had retained my 2.2VTT which had 147K KMS on the odo.

You surely have lived upto your promise of presenting the FIRST KWD 1.0 ownership review on TBHP and am tempted to ask if that was one of the reasons for you to get a brand new car before your Celerio could see her first service on.

By the way, those pics were filled with details and your writing complemented them pixel for pixel

Update:

Got my RC book from the dealer. The number was 3148, incidentally, my Safari's was 4158, an increment of 1010
I got dark tints on the windows. The cop problem is not an issue here in my place. Got the famous German style plates for number, but removed the two colored stickers on it though. Also changed the meek stock horn to Roots Windtone 90.

500 km up! Fuel Efficiency stands at 16.8 kmpl.

That's very surprising! Is it due to the roads not being up to par and you perhaps needing a better ground clearance?

It definitely looks very much at home between those palm trees. Beautifully written & photographed thread as well

Ha, thank you!

Ciaz is the most comfortable of my garage(along with Safari of course). And i use it on all kinds of roads, GC of ciaz has never been a problem. But the size! Been used to Safari and Ciaz sizes, I feel driving kwid to be as easy as riding my CBR250R.

Kwid is extremely easy to drive. Driving in city is also tension free as I don't worry about people scratching white kwid versus shiny brown Ciaz.

My sweetheart has completed 800 km.

Fuel efficiency stands at 17 kmpl. I have decided to go gentle on the throttle this tankful so as to see how much FE i get.

The last 300 km have been fun. I have been pissing innovas and sedans on highway, and I have been enjoying that amused look from the drivers of those cars who couldn't believe a Kwid overtook them while they were at triple digit speeds.

The last red point in the fuel gauge has 8 litres from that level. It is a little tank and it shows when you need to refill the tank every 350-400km range.

How did they reach out to you? Was it due to this ownership review?

First Milestone! 1000 km completed in 12 days!

Usage pattern in my garage in the last 12 days:

Tata Safari - 650 km
Ciaz - 550 km
Celerio - 52 km
CBR250R - 330 km
Kwid 1.0 - 1000 km

Fuel efficiency stands at 17.3 kmpl (50% highway @ 100 kmph cruising + 50% city). Treated the car with a nice wash for this milestone.

First upload with Ciaz and Kwid together.

Speedo pic shot today, in both my celerio(bottom) and Kwid. Celerio being 45 days earlier to land in my garage, has been overtaken by Kwid. 1184 km completed!
