The SRV never came with diff spec tyres. It has always been 195/60..Also the car is a definite looker...but yes the interiors and over all driving experience are a total let down..if they could add some zest to that engine, or even better plonk the diesel from the Magnum in it i'm sure it will ROCK...stiffen up the springs and there you go, you have a trackday special!

Price looks okay for a 1.5 year old SRV, that cost 7.5+ in the showroom (40% depreciation). He can certainly be pushed a little more since the SRV had little takers.

I drove the SRV in 2/07 and while it was zippier than Corsa, it shaked and wobbled a lot in 1st gear. Do check on this, whether that was peculiar to that piece or applies to many SRVs.

interiors of Palio 1.6 could be jazzed up, price increased and it should compete with SRV as a performance hatch targeting a niche segment.

both have a sporty image - FE be damned!

the only let down is SRV's pathetic performance, though it looks like a million bucks esp with the option of the rear wing spoiler!

i was a huge fan of SRV's looks when i used to see a blue one (with wing spoiler and all) in the parking lot of my gym a couple of yrs ago. i had a test drive and...thuuuud....i fell down to earth.

Nice review devarshi. The SRV seems to be a case of wrong pricing and lost positioning, much like the Fusion. To the average Indian, the hatch is much lower compared to the sedan.

I am interested to know how you explained the needs and how she within seconds narrowed down to the SRV? My experience in the GM showroom is that till you spell out the model you are interested; they are at loss to suggest anything.

Just Thought Of Sharing Our Experience With Gm's Poor Built Quality. Our Srv Is Done Just 12000 Kms, Less Than 2 Years Old And Still Under Warranty. The Car Rusted Everywhere In It's Panels. All Four Doors Got Corroded And Badly Decayed. Oxidization Of Body Panels Popping Up Everywhere Be It In Trunk, Fenders, Running Board Etc., Gm Replaced The Doors Only Under Warranty As A Token Of Appreciation Of Their Own Built Quality & Did Some Touch Up Job. Not Convinced About The Vehicle Quality We Demanded Our Money Back. Yet To Getgm's Response. Also, Planning To Take It Up Through Consumer Forums/legal Remedies. Beware Before You Zero In On A Chevy Based On The Deep Discounts Being Currently Offered. You Might End Up Owning A Rusted Steel Junk Soon In Your Carage Or Backyard.

Sorry, it's a purely one odd case here. I haven't heard any such issues from anywhere. Not surely here in TBHP.

You should do that anyway. I suspect it's a defective one pushed out.

You mean on bottom panels? If local service station can't give you an answer why don't you put it straight to GM customer care? You've paid a good amount of money for that car, right?

This might not be the case as always since i know a couple of friends whose cars look as good as new even after 2 yrs of purchase. Also its interesting to note that you are from chennai. Arent vehicles around coastal belts anyways prone to metal corososion . Also case in example is another entry below yours by docap also has complained of rusting and he is also from mangalore another coastal area. Could this be the issue rather than with the car. I have been in chennai and my car too started rusting after 8 years of purchase and since i have shifted from there and moved to bangalore, i havent observed that issue.

Good point!

May be a bit OT--I had a Lamby for 10 years in Vizag--but I was staying 20 kms away from the coast, so there was hardly any rust formation. I left it for a month in my brother's place, right next to RK beach. The headlight rim rusted in one month flat.
That's what corrosion in coastal areas does.
