Optra Royale has been discontinued. The only petrol Optra Magnum available are 1.6 LS/1.6 LT and Optra Royale never came with audio controls on the steering.

Wink

Well they must have discontinued it now, but when i bought my 1.8LT it had the following which no other car in the segment had.
  • Sunroof
  • Audio Controls on steering wheel
  • Adjustable Lumbar Support on both sides(the Magnum has only on the drivers side)
  • Leather Seats(Corolla H5 had)
  • ABS & EBD(Corolla didnot have it, the Elantra did)
  • Climate Control(Corolla & Elantra have it)
  • Glass Antenna(Corolla didnot have it, Elantra did)
  • Remote operated boot release
  • Rear Curtain
  • TNRS
  • AWIS
@ Tsk - I dont know how you saying that its cramped inside, i guess you didnot adjust the seat well, i can assure you one of the most comfortable cars around in India is the Optra and there is ample and i really mean ample head room

No doubt 1.8 LT had the steering mounted audio control but what we are discussing here is the current range of Optra, Petrol as well as Diesel which does not offer that feature.

As far as the other features are concerned, yes it was all there in the 1.8 LT. Then again we are not comparing Optra 1.8 LT with either Corolla or Elantra or Skoda.

Well i wa just a bit shocked to see quite alot of features which were a segment first on the Optra being missing on the Magnum and hence i posted the comparission. Well the new Magnum has Alpine HU which is not compatible with the steering remote offered by Blupunkt IMHO.

Quite frankly it would be exciting if Chevy could bring out a higher variant in the Magnum Diesel LT with Sunroof, Auto Tranny, and Climate Control keeping it below the 10.5L tag. THEN! Then, it would be a complete luxury car - and VFM too!

Also there is nothing in the segment with all of the above at such an idealistic price!

Test drove the Magnum, it came to my place from 30kms afar.

In short i would like to say handling is good better then the petrol, ride is also better then the petrol very good, interiors are ok i liked them, brakes are very good. Avg around 13kmpl. Performance very good throughout the rev range.

Default Slightly more concrete info on the A/T variant.

Ok had sent an email to General Motors India. Following is the excerpt of my email and GM's response:

Dear Mr. <--name blanked out-->,

We are in receipt of your e-mail enquiring about launch date of AT version of Chevrolet Optra Magnum.

At the outset, we would like to state that currently we are not in a position of confirming the launch of the vehicle and the date for the same, We are working on bringing a AT variant on Optra Magnum diesel. The timeliness are still being worked out. We will inform you further in this regard, if we come up with a concrete plan to launch the said vehicle.

Thank you for showing your interest in General Motors product.

Warm regards

Optra Magnum Diesel - Automatic!

Hi,

Have come to know that Chevrolet would be soon launching the automatic transmission version of the Optra Magnum Diesel. Kindly advise whether this is true.

If so it would be great if you could give an indication of expected time of lauch and pricing. If not then kindly consider this as a customer feedback to expedite the launching of an automatic variant of the Optra Magnum Diesel with Sunroof, and Auto Climate Control. These are the "must-have" features of cars in this segment and I know of many customers like me who are looking forward to buying one (when available).

To know more check out www.team-bhp.com as it would give you an indication of what the market desires - in case you dont already know about this site!

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

regards

The cars r goin to be driven by me or my bro..
have shortlistd the cedia sports, magnum LS,civic V MT.
Corolla n skoda outdated.
Cedia suspension is stiff n the interiors n engine r great.
Magnum everything is cool, besided the interiors n no climate control
Civic i guess its all in the name

Civic costs way more than cedia and magnum. If you can afford it, buy it. The cedia is a car meant for very sport handling whereas the magnum has a soft suspension for cruising. Its not sport by any means and is not meant to be thrown around corners.
