But of course. This machine looks as jeepish as any jeep can get. Its just those finer points that I mentioned. Somehow, I hate the seating comfort with that high set floor.

I should think the FESTIVE SEASON, around October this year. It will be coming in Petrol & Diesel. The pictures seem to suggest it will be in the TUSCON, CRV size bracket & prices are bound to be competitive as they are taking the CRV head on Worth the wait I'd say.

If you want serious off roading capability then the PAJERO is your answer. But the dated look vs a Swanky Vitara. I should think the Vitara will have a relatively decent off road capability. But everyone has different concepts of serious off roading - don't we ?

i would be doing alot of serious offroading in it so want something that would last the harsh terrain

and the idea of owning a 15+ maruti isn't that good

Happened to see the New model Vitara last Thursday in Bangalore. It was of HR registration and looked like a test vehicle of Maruti. The same looked extremely good and the size of Nissan XTrail.

Sorry, could not take any snaps as I was driving.

That's great news !!!! Much sooner than I remembered - will surely merit a Test Drive asap. But are they taking bookings yet ?

I don't think that Grand Vitara was launched today so you will have to wait a bit before queuing up.

Default New Endeavour Tested: My impressions

Popped in at the local dealership to TD the New Endeavour. I had a short drive and all my points are based comparing it to the old one since I have driven the old Ford as well.

Exterior wise there isnt much difference between the two except that the new bumper (or are they) makes it look more butch. As mentioned by someone earlier there is nothing car about it. It has a huge stance and most definately has presence on the road.

Coming to the engine, its a new Common rail unit in comparision to the horribly under powered turbo unit. Its more refined than the earlier engine but only just. I drove the truck on a really empty stretch so I really got the chance to pull her. I felt the response was much better than the old Endy but it could have been better. It is still lacking something IMO. Could feel slight turbo lag as well but not as much the earlier model.

I was very disappointed with ride comfort and its really bad on Ford's part to still offer only leaf spring suspension on what is a 19 lakh rupee machine (yes thats what it goes for in Mumbai 4x4). Could feel quite a bit of body roll too.

Threw the car pretty fast over two speedbreaker and boy was it bad for my friend sitting in the middle row. Even I could feel how hard the ride was. In one word backbreaking.

I guess there is nothing more to mention, many points have also been covered by other members here.

In a summary I will say that I am very disappointed with the New Endeavour. Though the engine is decent, major issues about the suspension and ride had not been addressed. Comfort behind is still a problem as it was in the old model. It would have been ok if they kept the price in check but almost 20 lakhs for this is a no no.

I dont see many selling though one may buy it for the macho factor. If the Grand Vitara Diesel is launched sometime soon, it would spell doom for Ford's upgraded offering.

Thanks Dippy, I think you've addressed the question that was uppermost in most of our minds - ride comfort! Well, looks like they're just not interested in resolving the issue & want to make hay out of the TDCI factor alone.

As you said, if the Grand Vitara diesel arrives, it may just spoil their party - not sure about the interior space on the Vitara though, I think its a tad short
