I totaly agree with GTO and ajmat here, there is no way this car can do anything in this mrkt, i think its a mistake, but then again its not like they have made huge investments to get this car into india..they will make their money back..barely and thats about it, I think..aware or not aware..no one in india will spend 27 lakhs on skoda, until its the company's money and you already have the E, C, Accord and few others which is highly unlikely, I am not saying it will not sell even one, but it will be a flop like the camry.. I personally dont like the skoda brand altogether..even the octivia.. for me this is thumbs down..now if chysler were to introdude the 300C in india at about 25 lakhs price range, that would sell, since they can mrkt it as a benz counter part(just a lot cheaper : ) ) They can do pretty good with crossfire too(reasonable nums i would assume) and even may be the minivan for about 15-17 lakhs..lets c how things progress...I surely hope to see chrysler in india.though wouldnt happen for sometime..but still would hope..

Cheers

Great review dippy. Did you try the Tiptronic gears out? How was it? Could you hold it in a gear for long? Also, are there any buttons on the steering wheels to shift?

Overall, it seems like a great package, loads of space, great powerplant, sorted out handling. on the downside, it looks way too similar to an Octavia. And whether people, especially badge status loyalists would fork out money for a Skoda badge, is something we would have to wait out for the sales figures. But if i'd have the option of buying one, i sure as hell would.

I think it could have done with a better music system. Alloys also should have been like the one they had shown in the print ads.

Hey V12,

I absolutely agree with you man!
Those alloys make the car look really classy. And a league above the octavia.

However, those alloys remind me of Audi, and if you cover the front end of the car its difficult to see that this in not an audi!

great job dippy,

good review pal and nice pics too. i saw the same colored (golden) colored superb (mh-06 regtn ) in chembur. looks and huge....loads of rooom in side with understated elegance.

my personal feeling is that though this car mite not set the sales figures on fire...it will do decently enough for itself.

skoda as a brand has a good reputation in india becoz of the octi and with a vfm superb it mite just notch another feather in the cap. in india still vfm sells above the technology, driving plaesure , safety etc etc and the superb offers vfm with all other factors ....so its gotta sell.

but give me a choice .......the new merc "c" class will make its way into my garage...

cheers

they do sell together but in economy segment! Someone paying 25lakhs wouldn't want a car costing half looking almost the same *

When I picked up this August issue of ACI, I thought man why are testing the Superb again? That ofcourse was until I had read the name on the reg. plate of the car That shows how similar the cars look.
