i bought a maruti gypsy king st on the 7th of sep 2004,
immediately changed the stock tyres to pirellie 215 scorpions
it has 3k on the odo
drove down to udupi a couple of times & mumbai once...
top speed on the odo 120kmph
ive been getting milage of 10kmpl on the highways... the fr. seats are anything but comfortable.. & the exhaust fumes get into the cabin which inturn gives one a light head

on tarmac the ride is a bit bumpy even with the tyre pressure as low as 26 psi ... the brakes are good & so is the brake feel
if driven in the rev range the vehicle is pretty peppy & feels fast. you need to aligne the vehicle in the right angle to take corners at high speeds... cos if you try to correct the steering as you get into the corner...its scarey..the vehicle is not as forgiving as the other 4x4 that ive driven ...

havent had a chance to take it off road yet ...but will soon.
will be driving down to shimla to take part in the raid the himalayas on the 30th of this month (reliability trail)
When maruti is charging Rs 4.65 lac for the gypes they should have given better seats & a tacho meter atleast
for
the macho image
the gear shift
against
seats
design of the exhaust pipe
ride

Awesome. If you are planning on doing it anywhere close to Bombay, let me know. Will get my Mahindra and we can off-road together with a bunch of other Classics.

And good initial review.

120kmph on 5th gear or 4th gear?
In 1999 I drove down to Kodaikanal. My friend's Gypsy was one and a half years old then with 7000 on odo. After I touched 120 in 4th and shifted to 5th. Speed came down to 100.
I want to know if it's a normal phenomenon or an one off case?

Sorry. Probably It's my mistake about the year. It was a King only. He had bought it six months after the launch.
