True...the boot is just like the other doors...if the central lock is opened, the boot door can also be openend from outside....
they have the fancy Hyundai logo as well on the boot release handle.

Makes sense to me as, even after the internal boot release is opened some one has to open the boot by pulling on it (it doesnt open on its own, atleast in most cars.)

To open the boot from inside you have to unlock all the doors and the boot simultaneously. You cannot just unlock the boot from inside. All the doors will get unlocked too.

boot is a part of central lock with other doors.

in i10 all the five doors. - two front, two rear and one boot is controlled by a single remote lock or from the driver knob.

i don't understand what other internal boot release is bothering all of us.

Yes, it has a RPM meter. A 1.1 crdi is expected Q1 2008, a 80 - 84ps 1.2L or 1.3L petrol also expected sometime next year.

Previous post from govigov also has a pic of the speedo with the rpm meter

It is available only in i10 megna, not in era or d-lite.

Saw the i10 for the first time on road today. It was a test vehicle. Looked cute. Better than the photographs suggest

I saw one at close quarters yesterday for the first time. It was on display in Panampilly Nagar near my office so I got down, walked all round taking a real close look. As there was quite a crowd around, I did not get to sitting inside. It looks cute all right but... maybe I'm wrong but it looked virtually the same size as the Santro (a Santro under a new skin?).

Test drivers, please comment how i10 fares when compared to WagonR(except interiors & other lilliputian differences) ? [I know that WagonR is an old offering and I'm not asking for a neck-to-neck comparison !]

I think it's another overpriced mare from Hyundai stable since the engine itself lacks horses and the extra bucks that the customers have to spend to own an i10 is not worth the pennies !

Here is what a WagonR owner felt about i10.
  • Excellent interiors. My wagonR felt like a commercial vehicle after being in the i10.
  • Gear shift felt better, although not as smooth as some of the competition. But better than WagonR anyway.
  • Driving position and seat comfort and all felt almost same.
  • This is the part which confused loads- the engine felt same in response. Initial response was average, and mid-range was good. Just like in the WagonR. Almost same feeling as driving a WagonR.
  • Ride comfort was almost same, and not too bumpy like the Santro. handling and all, didnt feel any difference, and I didnt experiment too much either.
  • Engine refinement is much better than in the WagonR. Engine noise cant be heard in the cabin unlike the WagonR.
  • Power steering felt lighter than WagonR. Infact, it felt a little scary as speeds went up. WagonR has on of the lightest steering set-ups, so this could be in for some bashing with high-speed drivers.
  • Overall- If you are buying new, buy i10 over the WagonR without doubt.
(even though i10 is high priced)
  • If a WagonR owner looking to upgrade- Please look elsewhere. Getz 1.1 is a much better car at slightly higher price. i10 will feel a better looking WagonR only!
Whole TD report of 4 cars in the segment is given in this thread.
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/test-d...ads-share.html (1 day- 7 cars! 4TDs! 5L budget, loads of fun & loads to share.)

I dont think Hyundai uses EPS. It must be a motor driven one and there has to be a safety cutoff for sure.

Felt scary at high speeds. I drive a WagonR with real-light steering, still it scared me.

Thought it must be just me, but the same has been reported by another Bhp'ian after a TD.
