Perhaps a poll is on the way i hope. That would make it a good debate. What is the price of the fusion? can you get it if your friend can extend the budget a little bit? (I have no idea how much it costs)

The seating seems to be a problem. However, i am almost 6', so didnt experience any problem at all.

BUT, our fellow team-bhp'ian 'burnt' is also considering buying the i10/getz. He is inclined towards Getz. However, the seating position seems low for his mother to drive!

Yup! It is a nice car, and overall a good package.

BUT, i somehow felt Getz was slightly ahead. Some areas i think getz wins over the U-VA.
  • Engine Response. (Although U-VA might have outright power when revved).
  • Gearshift. (may be, it was just the car i TD'ed. but the U-VA shift was the worst i have come across. And i drive a WagonR. So, if i say its real bad, you can imagine)
  • Service and resale value.
  • Nice and airy interiors. Beige interiors help a lot compared to the grey dashboard of the U-VA. Considering that both the U-VA and Getz have the biggest dash boards among Indian cars, this does help on the Getz.
On the other hand, U-VA looked bigger and better, and build quality felt better and quality of materials felt better too.

Its slightly over the budget and highway use is not too important. Infact, running wont be too high. Thats why no diesels on the list either.

Mileage though sounds a bit low. However, understandable since the Santro engine has to pull a heavier car. This 11 is with ac? City?

LOL, Crazy, no i am not selling mine, i was just saying from the POV, when it comes to FE, Handling and looks, not many can compete with the Swift at that price.

Getz 1.1 is a good car for the City but for highways it lacks that pep.

AWESOME write up ....and guess its at the right moment for me...well am planning on selling our 96 esteem and buying a small car for dad so was looking at my options....didnt kinda like the swift and liked the Getz diesel...can someone give me its pricing and specs...Uva is ok but didnt like the looks and hate the looks of fusion.
Heard that the i10 is good but after reading through this my decision is the getz.
i want to wait for next year as there seems to be good launches like the fabia, Grande punto and the linea. Is it worth the wait????

Just curious why not consider Ikon , Any specific reason? IMHO it will beat any of these entry level cars and still a good VFM car [A.S.S is improving in blore not sure in TVM]

Sujay (CD), a nice write up there.

I had taken a test drive of the i10 Magna and the interiors seemed to be my sole point of interest. The gear shifts i felt were not really that good, as the shift from 4th to 5th was a bother. Another glaring omission was the absence of a dead pedal, which was a trait of all other Hyundai cars.
When i asked the sales guy at Advaith Hyundai (ORR, Bangalore) about the same, he said not many customers were in favour of having one, as per a poll conducted. Beats me!!

As IsacM said, your friend could have a look at the Ikon Flair, but i dont know how Kairali Ford treats its customers.

You should also TD the Fiat 1.6. It is definitely a good bargain with the reduced price.

@carzy...appreciating your effort for this great write up..
Why dont you take some time with person and TD the PALIO 1.6 and ....that will definetly change the views of that guy bout FIATs...Only thing is you have to take some more effort to make him understand about the Customer service.

Lot of my friends too had same kind of views about FIATS,and guess what ...?most of them are following my way to FIATS ,in which I played my part...

Nice write up there.
Even I feel that you should give the Palio 1.6 a try. You will love it.

Yes of course. The 1.6 L is sub 5 lacs and a good deal at that.

Sadly no upgrading for now.

WagonR is doing fine. It may not be a favourite in team-bhp. It may not have specialised skills. However, its a wonderfull overall package. Not selling it to get another hatch in the segment. (Except Swift DDiS and Getz CRDi when priced correctly).

Also, this is my final year in college. So, upgrading option will come only after knowing where i will be next year.

Please TD both the cars. They have different plus and negative points. I liked the Getz 1.1 because of the initial response, which would make it good for city. However, Getz 1.1 is still underpowered for highway.

i10 has good interiors. and fresh car image.
