Which filter is that? How much does it cost and please also give us some idea on F.E after the install.

Loved the title of the thread and guessed you must have a 'UNI' air-filter.

Congrats on your Palio Dude. Would love to hear the intake growl as I have not seen a 'UNI' filter on a car .

Thanks, guys...
@lover guy: My friend got it from the USA, so it cost him abt a grand.

@dipen: You reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery first (after installing the new filter), discharging the capacitor by cranking the ingnition, connect battery, start her up and rev it till the limit.

@moralfibre: That is correct. I'm not an expert on these things, but it was something about resetting factory default lookup tables in the ECU.

@gemithomas: That's a UNI filter, havent driven it a lot after the install so wont be in a position to comment on the FE. Though better breathing should translate into better efficiency as well.

Cool Palio Sport: 2500 km report

Vehicle: Palio 1.6 Stile Sports
Modifications: UNI air filter
City: Pune

Captain’s log, Stardate March 2008:

Now the formula red object in question has grown quite a bit on me; almost like an extension of my mind… maybe it’s that intuitive steering, maybe it’s the deep reserves of power making the right foot a devastating point-and-shoot weapon.

The UNI filter’s working brilliantly… made that 1.6 gem even more free revving, almost like a Honda. Ahhh that soundtrack after 3000 rpm… The next person who asks me why I bought a Fiat gets a bolt from my ‘Kill-O-Zap’ cannon in the wrong place.

It is the single reason why I get up early in the morning and drive to work when most of the populace is staring bleary-eyed into their tea cups… But then, empty highway roads were made for this machine.
Solid, stable and indestructible, it dismisses the rough Martian patches with disdain.

And when the occasion calls for the anchor to be thrown, it does not falter. Okay, ABS would have been a big help, but braking is very confident and I haven’t faced any problems on this front till date.
Entry ends… (rather abruptly)

FE would be hovering around 10kms to the litre, city + highway (havent done any sort of comprehensive calculation). My right foot should take part of the blame for this.
