Thumbs up My brand new Palio Sport 1.6 - UPDATED 2500kms done review

After months of research and considering every small car in the indian market, I sucked in my gut and went and bought what I really wanted since I was a kid.... the Palio Sport.

First of all, I liked the philosophy of the car. It doesnt say that it'll have adequate power and good fuel economy too. It promises to be a hot hatch and boy, does it deliver... 100 bhp , 14kgm.

I got it on Friday, on the day of Laxmi Poojan. In Formula Red. Its the reddest red ever and I love it!

Its still brand spanking new, so havent really caned the engine, but havent been pussyfooting either

The first thing you notice when you start driving is the great useability of all that power. It has good torque in the low rev band and the engine grows fangs in the mid range! Brilliant! Couldnt help myself having a few dabs at the pedal every time I saw an opening on the road.

The steering belongs to the 3 series school, which means it is quite heavy and has good feedback, which is a good thing given the speeds the car is capable of.

The brakes are very reassuring and they do help control the car very nicely from high speeds.

Gearshift has slightly long throws, but the gears shift nice and effortlessly and there are no vibrations transmitted through the gear lever.

From the outside, it looks stunning. It has inherently beautiful proportions and with the alloys and fogs, looks even yummier.
All my buddies (including some bhp-ians) have driven it and they too are in love....

I really havent had the chance to take it out for a nice drive yet, so stay tuned for a detailed first drive report with pics!

Hey Amit! Congrats on a great buy!

As someone (who? Me!) said: There are two types of people on team bhp - those who love the Palio and those who will start loving it in a while.

Well that was one thing that most people were unhappy with on the Palios and even on the adventure. Have they changed the brake setup on the stile. Or is it becouse the car weighs less? Could anyone comment?

The Gears are connected by cables so that the vibrations do not reach the lever. This is one thing the sales guy shouted out when we went to check out the ford fusion. But when i went to get the adventure the guys there were not even aware of such a thing while the adventure has two cables so as to ensure safety as well. Well thats about FIATs. You'll never realize most of the things that are right there helping you!!

Since you were a kid How old are you? Palio came in like 7 years only, if I am right. Anyways congrats on your diwali gift
