Hi Diffsoft: Thanks for the comments on the photos and wishes. I love snapping. I did get the top of the line version, hoping the sunroof is something my girl will enjoy on long journeys, but fortunately for me, she doesn't know to drive and is not keen on it either

Though I wanted to come in earlier, I waited so that I could provide a detailed review with a sizeable number in the odo, my car is a Silver Fabia Ambiente Diesel which has done 23,000 kms, it has been a thoroughly exhilarating experience so far with the car. The performace has been truly fun, without any hiccups so far. Also I added Pete's immediately after 1st service (10k) and that has made a huge difference.

It was driven over varied terrains and even a fair amount of offroading, atleast 30% of total kms was high-range driving which was truly fun with the torquey engine.

The long term average returned is 17.8, I started writing down the fuel consumption right from 2.5K and always it has been emty-full tank cycles so the average should be fair enough. Also my driving style is also not very mileage conscious, though I have seen some member mentioning speedo touching 160+, I have never had the courage to do that yet, the maximum I have gone is 140.

More than anything else its the sheer driving pleasure, the superb handling(even in tight curves) and the very sure braking is what makes this a real beauty. Its in the curvy roads of the hills that the one gets the real pleasure of driving this car - the exceptional handling and torque

Will add some snaps in coming days
Hi Krish: I welcome you to the Fabia experiences section, on behalf of netchef [thread starter] and other lovely Fabiosi* here. 23,000 kms already, Sir? You've driven too much, too fast, too soon.. lol, just kidding. That's a lot of kms you've done, which means you have more experience with the vehicle, and hence you can share more experiences, faults, pampering features and other pros and cons of the vehicle, with us here. Please add them and also feel free to guide us from your experience. I'm willing to do anything to make my priced possession last really long and remain trouble free. We welcome snaps; please post as many as you can of your beloved Fabia.

I own a petrol avataar of the car, but I can sure say that the Diesel version is extremely fuel efficient, as enjoyed by many Fabiosi here. I'm still in under the 'running in' period, and I am eagerly waiting for the day when I can take this beauty at 140+ kmph. What I am certain of is that I won't be scared to death, doing it .

Thanks for joining in; please stay on and belong here. We're very happy to have someone like you, here. Diesel Fabia owners will have more to share with you, in no time.

i am not critic for anyone. i expect same from others also. last year in delhi at autoexpo jan 2008, i was the man who was standing in front of fabia for almost 1/2 hour. i really liked the car. i had never driven fabia, so can't comment on it. what mysticeyes was telling was something correct and something wrong. fabia is lovely car is something differant that is correct but others cars are dirty that is something wrong. some people on board feel hurted. i have taken it as on board friend commenting and thats why i cheered him in my second post. thats all.
i will definitely like to see your car as i will be in banglore during 23/24/25 jan for imtex.
cheers.
Ashish: Thanks much for your comments mate. They're very encouraging and I'm happy you consider the seats are well done too [my opinion too].
Let's forget about the good comments and bad comments for now and let's all take it easy, rewind back to a few days from today. Mysticeyes has also apologised for anyone that is hurt, and he does not have the intention to poke anyone either. We all respect everyone's decision here, and appreciate and welcome people to the fold here.

I will always be mobile on weekends as I am caught in the rut of running-in my car, but please do call me and I will make all efforts to meet up with you. I'll be very glad to show you the car on one of those days [have PM'd you my mobile #].

Out of curiosity: what is IMTEX??

AJAY: Those are fabulous pics of your fab. I can see that your truly enjoying your baby. Splendid job done on those seats. I see that white leather has a sporty grain on it. Not the usual clean smooth white material. So how much did they charge for that including door panels, handrest, steering wheel, I had landed up paying 34K for all. Including extra 20% charges for adding another color to it.
Diesel is noisy but after about 2k kms noise starts settling down and after 1st service noise has gone down considerably. PD engines are prone to be noisy also coz one of the reason, for their high injection capability. But, they are also little more torqueier than the CRDi engines, just a bit more. And with PD engines the turbo kicks in little earlier than what CRDi would do.
Regarding the lights. well don't think the H4 bulbs will fit in those projector lamps. They have provided H4 bulbs in the other models which comes with normal halogen lamps.
I was in same dilemma thinking it would but couldn't find any good bulbs for it in H7 size so went ahead getting the HID kit for it. Really helps.

SHYKRISH: Welcome to the fabia family, I should say. It's great to know that you have thoroughly enjoyed your drive a long way,23K. Would appreciate if you would share some info about your baby here as when did you get your baby? Do you have a remap or tuning box from pete's? how much did the 2nd service cost you ?

I am nearing 20k kms. got the 1st ever remap done on my baby too. 140 is no big deal on this babe, it can easily do in excess and very efficiently and in a well behaved manner. It's truly is a well behaved mannered baby.

Regarding what Meyes said all I can say, We all do get defensive when it comes to our love, possession.
Cheers!! on that

Invisible: Thanks a lot for the comments. The real leather portion is more cream off-white, than white.

I paid a total of Rs.20,000/- on the seats. This amount covers the dual tone job. I think it costed Rs.34,000/- since you went for all real leather? Remember the black portions on my Fab are art leather

The leather grip cover on the steering wheel is of 'Nappa' leather, which I am informed, is a premium quality in automotive leather. I got it done free, by the dealership.

Sorry to ask, but have you posted your car's interior pics? I don't remember seeing your car's dual-tone leather interiors. Or maybe I had seen and forgot. Please confirm if you have, and I will tread back the pages and take a look. Thanks.

Oh crap!! I bought a set of Philips Xtreme Power headlamps for the car, which are H4 bulbs. I don't know if any other H7 bulbs are available for extra bright light [any color, not specific on blue or super white]. Just some light which gives more bright light, on stock setting.

Invisible: Can you please do me [and others] a favour? Can you please take a picture, of the road ahead, from inside the car, when your projector HID lights are on, at night? It will help me understand how well they light the road, and assist in making a decision..

My colleague, friend and TBHP member Sreenivas is suggesting me to take a look at HID lights, but it costs 7K I am told, an investment I cannot make immediately. I will visit the light shop tomorrow and see what I can get. Will keep you members posted.

Hi Uneet. Thanks for stopping by. Another Fabiosi. Nice to meet you.

I don't exactly get what you mean to ask, by stating you like to have the same interiors of Elegance model, but if it the leather job you are referring to, YES, you can.

You need to get in touch with Stanley Botique in your city, to get your seats and interiors done up in leather. Stanley is perceived as costly [it still is, to me] but I am very satisfied with their job; I happily recommend the Stanley job.

About the aluminium silver treatment for the AC vents, I am not sure if you would get add-ons, to fit on your car, but you can get them painted from a paint body shop for, what I believe, a nominal charge [it's afterall a few lines]. But I would ask you to be very cautious. Any screw up with the paint job would mean moaning, anger and a pissed-off state of mind.. Be very careful with your Fab.

Lastly, the difference in the interiors should be an arm rest [with small storage compartment] you see in my pictures. That accessory is an add-on, albeit, a pricey one. I think it retails at around Rs. 12000/-, but please check and bargain with your dealer.

Good luck mate.

Ya I got in done in complete classic leather. Never the less you have got it done is truly worth it. Well thought decision. I like it.

The leather grip cover on the steering wheel is of 'Nappa' leather, which I am informed, is a premium quality in automotive leather. I got it done free, by the dealership.
That's icing on the cake. Nappa leather is genuinely the finest leather. Wish we had dealers too like this here in Mumbai. Apparently the steering cover costed me 4k.

Yes, I have refer to page 31. and you'll see them.

H4 or H7 means that they just different where fitting matters. Both of them would throw the same light. You can always go for phillips / Osram bulbs but stick to 55 watts. Going for 100watts will just burn up your projectors.

Sure will do that this sunday just for you buddy. You can also have a look at thread here in Modifaction section where they have a dedicated thread just on lights.

My colleague, friend and TBHP member Sreenivas is suggesting me to take a look at HID lights, but it costs 7K I am told, an investment I cannot make immediately. I will visit the light shop tomorrow and see what I can get. Will keep you members posted

Hid is way to got but I would like to be honest, suggest not to go in for the chinese make such as Bosch and others. Phillips is also available for 9k but they aren't that good as they used to be. THeir earlier model would retail 19k and they have relaunched the new model with the price of 9k, obviously there is compromise done with the quality. The only good ones I find is from P4, they are good and on the whiter side than compared to others which are towards little bluish white. And P4 make do come with warranty cost about 11k or so. They throw the light of 6000k compared to halogen bulbs which have around about 2100k if am not mistaken. The best one would be to get 4100k which is a mix of both little yellow and little white. Something what BMW, laura, superb and others have it stock from the company. 4100k one's will be hard to find unless you place the order with the importer of P4 here in Bandra, MUmbai. I may be planning to order them for my other car. Incase you or anyone else is interested we can go in for group purchase and squeeze in the amount little bit. Once again I would honestly ask you to stay away with the fake bosch or any other make coz of the quality which sucks and you might not know it might just fail on you while driving on the highway.

Also, did you check the feature given on turn indicators. They have a feature where you just tab a little gently on it and it will blink three times and stop irrespective whether its left side or towards the right side. This acts as lane change indication on the highways and sometimes in city, quiet useful. Does help me a lot during my highway drive where i do not have to completely engage the indicator left/right. Try it out.

Default Thanks for the welcome

Thank you all for the warm welcome.

As for my experiences with the vehicle, its been an outstanding performer and the only (minor) grouse I have is the hopeless tyres provided. I have changed both my front tyres to Micheline green 195 and that has made a world of difference.

Ajay: True the vehicle can go much beyond 140 and even at 140 its rock solid and perfectly in our control, just that I did'nt have the guts to go beyond that.

Invinsible: The car was delivered to my on 10 Feb 2008 (nearing 1st anniversay), I have not done a remap its a tuning box from petes. The second service cost about 5k.

Attaching a few snaps....

While on the topic, let me add one feature of the fabia that i absolutely love. if you turn the ignition off get out of your fabia and you have not wound up the windows totally, you dont have to put the keys back in again, start it and then wind the windows, you can do the same while the ignition is off and best you can do it while you are outside. You just insert the key in the slot where you would put it to open the door, and just turn it on the left side, any windows that are open will automatically close.

This is such a well thought feature.

Cheers,
AC

Gentlemen: time seems to have left my side (in a great hurry, no doubt). I find myself hard-pressed to even get online let alone join in the conversations and put in some asides. Just want to let Ye know that I'm still very much here if a tad hidden in the wings.

Watch this space.

Shykrish:
Dont shy away from this thread anymore. We need a lot of valuable information from you. First, I would like to know about the pete's tuning box for Fabia. Please comment on the fuel consumption, max speed, accelaration etc. and also the cost.

Default Petes

Based on my experience Petes has improved the driveability of the car by leaps and bounds, the major difference is that Turbo kicks in at slightly lower RPMs than before adding it. Also the torque has increased significantly which again aides in lesser gear shifts.
As for fuel economy Petes claim that FE increases but I have a reduction of .5 KMPL but thats a very small price to pay vis a vis the benefits.

Madrash: regarding max speed I am not eligible to comment as I have not gone beyond 140 (even though the car was more than willing) our Kerala roads do not really let you do that safely. Acceleration - yes there is marked improvement.

Cost was around 32K including about 4k for the Green Cotton Air filter.

Another impression that I get from some other Fabia owners is that they treat her very delicately. Let me tell you I have taken this beauty over almost all kinds of terrains and this car has come out with flying colours, do not worry too much about the underbelly its very well protected. I am sure Naikpranav would support me(judging from some of the extraordinary pics he has posted). After 23k+ kms over all kinds of terrains there is not even a trace of a single rattle...I must say this is build to last. So guys enjoy your car, put her through the paces...I am sure you'll enjoy it.
